Protein % Vs. Fat %

I would like some opinions on macro percentages. For a CKD type diet (there are MANY version out there), what daily percentage of fat is most conducive for a successful recomp?

For example: Does 70% fat work better than say; 50%?

Let me know if a certain strategy has actually worked for YOU...not that you have read it somewhere, therefore you agree with it.

Ive noticed that in order to follow the ketogenic rules AND keep calories low....its mathematically impossible to reach the rule of thumb of "1 gram of protein per 1 lb of bodyweight"

How many grams do yall take in a day?

Quite frankly, "that rule of thumb" is crap. People way over-estimate how much protein they actually need. You really need to eat around 1 gram per lb of LEAN MASS. Take your weight, take out your fat, and you have lean mass. If you eat excess protein, it will be converted to glucose anyways. I think you should try to find a copy of Lyle Mcdonald's writings on CKD. Very useful info for starters.

Yes, I have read it...his recommendations are as follows:

"The ratio of fat to protein should be 1.5 grams of fat *minimum* for every gram of protein and carbs in the diet. This is a 75% fat, 25% protein ratio with trace carbs."

The reason I have always been a little confused, is that in the first sentence he is referring to macros, and the second he is referring to calories. I thought he was referring to macros in both.

I have around 170 lbs of LBM, and that is what i have always shot for each day. I agree with you on the strategy of taking your LBM as opposed to your total weight...though I have read split recommendations from "experts"
