Props to Nintendo

Weather effects are live. Some animations on the map/screen, and bonuses to catching certain Pokémon under certain weather conditions. Looks like a ~20-25% (I’ll have to check other mon to see an exact % or if it’s variable) bonus to moves that are the type that correspond to the weather too, so that may change up the meta, or at least make some Pokémon more viable when the weather is right.

Looks like charge moves get a 20% boost when applicable (checked 3+ moves with different damage numbers and they all received a 20% increase).

Quick attacks seem to all get +1 or +2. Moves with 6-7 damage seem to get +1, moves with 8-12 seem to get +2.

Over 45 gen 3 caught

Weather warnings are annoying the hell outta me though, it’s been “extreme” weather alert every time I’ve opened the app for a good 10+ days now.

Have to keep clicking that I’m safe, lol game designers are clearly not Canadian

That seems to be a bug now... mine does it everywhere.

I'm at 51 gen 3 on the badge but I have about 7-8 evolutions that I can do anytime too (waiting for better IV's for the starters and such).

My favorite new mon so far I think is Swampert (looks wise)... Kinda bummer tho that none of them are really all that functionally useful. I would've liked some new powerhouses

Woah.. pokemon thread.. never played pokemon go . I’m currently addicted to pokemon ultra on the ds

oh man... missing out not playing Go... gotta get your nerd on in public haha

Walrein is a better Lapras, higher health and att to now be the best non-legendary Ice type

For Legendary, Groudon is a beast. Got a 97% IV I’m working on powering up

You’re right though, really not too much more

Meditite could have been badass, psychic/Fighting to use to counter either, but the evolution looks like it caps at sub-1500, lame

Man, I have an 87 Groudon that I caught at 2883 or something and it got DESTROYED by a 2600ish rhydon tonight that had surf ha. I was ashamed and vowed not to put a single speck of dust to him until I get one with a better IV after that beatdown (his first battle too ha).

One that I did hear could be a great attacker or properly placed defender is Gardevior. Great matchup for a gym after a blissey as it would crush machamp/hariyama or any other fighting

Gardevior is solid, but it’d be cool to see a fairy-type quick move for it. Gyarados got waterfall for a quick move, which means WF + Hydropump is the best Water-type attacker now, doing a good bit more damage than Vaporeon. Metagross and Salamance should be top-tier once they’re released, Aggron will have 3000+ CP and steel typing, and some other mon can have roles as useful attackers, if not the best mon (Blaziken, Sceptile, Walrein, Breloom, etc).

Seviper got swapped for Zangoose today too! I was shocked when one popped up for me ... thought it was a glitch ha

Seviper? On the lookout!

I have a kajillion Zangoose and no way to use the candy; glad it got swapped

Ha me too. Ive just been loading all my geese into gyms to throw them away ha

Managed to evolve a Sceptile, but it doesn’t have grass for either move. Looks like I’ll be sticking with Venusaur and Exeggutor for grass-type attackers.

I haz no TMs haha. I do think I’m pretty set for grass attackers though (yes, I did name some Exeggutors after Ents from LOTR):

Haha I love seeing people’s names for their mons. Always funny. That’s def a solid crew. It’s kind of a shame there really isn’t an elite grass mon yet.

I have no idea why one Exeggutor is named “Q,” but I just can’t change it; it will remain a great mystery lol.

Exeggutor is currently the 13th highest CP non-legendary mon, and Gamepress does put him in the A+ Tier (the highest behind S Tier which only has Mewtwo, Tyranitar, and Dragonite). He is pretty bulky and still does pretty solid damage, especially with Solar Beam, which I think gets a weather boost when it’s sunny, so pretty often here in South Florida. Plus if you feel like leaving one as a defender, confusion is one of the best defensive quick moves in the game. Lots of uses for grass types too, so I’m not complaining about the tree’s place in the meta-game.

Since attackers can take gyms pretty easily, it’s fun to just put mon with bizarre moves they counter well to surprise attackers a little.

Like Ryhdon with surf booneman mentioned:

and these mis-typed move mon:

If people think they don’t have to dodge the charge move because they resist it, and it turns out to be super effective instead, it may actually do a little damage.

Got my first shiny! (That I noticed)

Awesome! I’m so jealous. I haven’t caught a shiny since the two Karp I got during the water even when shinys were first released ha.

Also just hatched my first 100iv mon ever today (barboach ha)

I have no shinies lol. I do have a few 100% though, so we just have different types of luck.

Does anyone else REALLY like the weather boosted spawns? It gives some maxed or near maxed CP mon, and often some that I wouldn’t otherwise use dust on to boost, but can be useful by virtue of being maxed out with no investment. I feel it adds some diversity and excitement to actually check to catch mon besides meta-useful ones.

I’ve got lots of 100’s, but all wild caught. Just no hatch luck ha. I hatched about 13 eggs (including a full 9-10k set) and have only gotten 2 gen 3 mons ha. I just have no luck with eggs.

I’m loving it. Especially for the gen3’s that I want to power up it’s a huge dust savings. Plus it increases the type chances which helps with badges and things that just don’t spawn a lot normally in your area.

Oh, that makes sense lol. I do think some stops give better eggs than others; I think I’ve gotten the same few common mon from the same stops many times. I’m not really sure though.

I did get the 100% Charisse’s as a Charmelion from a raid (weather boosted), so I guess that’s pretty cool haha.

That true; there’s been good diversity lately. I could use some TMs though, but I don’t do raids very often, so I can’t really complain.

Still, I’m not complaining, I’m pretty happy about the recent updates.

Updates have been a step in the right direction, it added variety and slightly better stardust rates.

I grabbed a few of the stardust 1.5 multipliers but its hard to get good use of it in 30 minutes

How do you get it to show that?

You need to use an IV calculator (google top options are all gtg) and input a few stats

Once used to it you can guesstimate by the trainer rating within a few % to save time

Renaming them to include the IV is good for organizing, or personally I just star the 90%+ so I know which are worth spending candy on

You can tell if it’s 100% from the appraisal. If it says Attack, Defense, and HP, and gives whatever your team’s highest value (15) is, it’s 100%. The IV calculator is good for anything else though. I just use one where I enter the values though; I don’t want to risk getting banned for using an app that actually interacts with the GO app, even if it probably won’t happen.

Oh, nevermind then. I just started playing again because they added a gym in my neighborhood and my school has some stops, but I'm not dealing with all that.

I tried to check my ursaring (1841 CP) but it won't pull anything up for me.

Haven’t seen that before

Based on trainer ratings,
Invalid Link Removed

If you have the top rating for both it’s worth keeping/powering up.
If both got top and the trainer lists multiple “best stats” it is even better, as he just said above if you get all 3 att/def/hp mentioned it is 100%

Why do some wild pokemon have only ???? as CP?

It’s a mon that’s higher level (back to that app to see it, basically it’s the amount close to maxed that mon is. They max at 39) than you are. You’ll see the xp after you catch it.

Yeah, but isn't high CP worth more than high IV? What is the point of a good IV/stat if the CP is lower than a different one?

Yeah, but isn't high CP worth more than high IV? What is the point of a good IV/stat if the CP is lower than a different one?

Because you can power up the CP but not the IV

So keep high IV to power up, it will be better than the other once CP is equal

IV is basically “genetic potential” ha. Higher the IV, the stronger their max CP and stats are

If you do catch a lower IV mon that’s still around maxed out CP, and is a good mon with good moves, I’d keep it too. Like if you catch a maxed out Snorlax with a lower IV, or an Exeggutor, Machamp, etc. Even if they’re maybe 10% weaker than they could be with perfect IV, they’re still pretty useful, as they’re high CP period (2700 of 3000 is still 2700, compared to 2000 of 2000 only being 2000), and stardust to power up mon can be hard to come by.

Have you maxed out any legendaries?

I don’t raid often enough for the rare candy. Best CP is TTAR at 3250 right now
