A litle bit of information about pro-hormones.
Pro-hormones are a type of sports supplements that are used by sports people. Bodybuilders and strength athletes who are trying to increase muscle mass, strength and reduce body fat mainly use them. Pro-hormones are very similar to anabolic steroids except pro-hormones or a precursor to a hormone. For pro-hormones to work they need to be converted in our body to a hormone. An anabolic steroid is already a hormone and does not need to be converted in our body. Both anabolic steroids and pro-hormones have the same end result. The first pro-hormone sold as a pro-hormone was androstenedione in 1996 by Patrick Arnold. Although it was not until the pro-hormone 1-testosterone was released they were considered to be as effective as anabolic steroids. It the last 10 years the amount of pro-hormones now available is amazing. Knew ones are being released all the time. One big problem with pro-hormones is most people assume that because they are legal they are perfectly safe. This is an increasing problem children as young as 15 have been reported as being users of pro-hormones. However they pose as much risk as their illegal counter part and PCT is required after use. PCT (post cycle therapy) is necessary after the use of pro-hormones and normally involves the use of anti- estrogen \supplements or medicine. However most pro-hormone require prescription only medicine to lower estrogen levels until normal testosterone production begins. Women or anyone under the age of 21, people suffering from liver problems, shouldn’t use pro-hormones. Some pro-hormones such as M1T (methyl 1 testosterone) are considered to be very dangerous and even some experienced steroid users will not take it due to the side effects. I read a report of a man being admitted to A & E suffering liver pains.
Conclusion
Many pro-hormones were released in the 50s and 60s as anabolic steroids. But they have now been released by supplement companies to be sold legally as supplements. Large proportions of pro-hormones are illegal in the US and are classified as anabolic steroids. I do think it very unlikely that pro-hormones would ever be ban in the UK. I do believe that pro-hormones do have their uses but very careful consideration and research should be under taken before use.
