primordial CLA ethyl-esther question

I got a lot of this stuff recently and started taking it last week.

I'm noticing this really acidic burp after taking it, something I did not notice with the standard NOW CLA or the MRM standard CLA...

anyone else notice this? I'm assuming that CLA ethyl ester is basically the same thing as CLA HCL (hydrochloric acid) correct? If so, isnt' that the acid in the stomach?

i feel like i'm getting acid reflux from it...

i take 2 with 3 meals daily along wtih a cap of sesamin and a cap of fish oil.
 
I've been taking the NP brand CLA, but have been looking into the Primordial CLA for a bit. I haven't heard of anyone else with this issue, but its definitely something that should be addresses.

Primordial Perf is pretty quick to reply, so maybe shoot them a PM and point them to this thread.
 
thanks for the clarification.

i just get a sense of acidity after taking it. smelling the soft gels you can smell that acidic smell.

i think it's working, and I think it probably works better than the original CLA, but I'm wondering if the ester is really that much more acidic and can cause acid reflux or worsen it?

Certain brands of fish oil cause a fishy burps for me. Others do not. Could be the same case with you.

I'm glad you started this thread, I've been eying the CLA.

No i do not, but like another poster said it could depend on the fish oil you get. I have not tried any other brand of CLA so i would not know if it's just primordials CLA. It doesn't bother me at all though.

I think it works pretty good and is worth the $7.95 per 112 softgels. One thing I have noticed is that since I have been taking the Ethyl Ester version, my hunger has increased big time, do not know why. Will have to ask rep about that. I have used regular CLA from Higher Power, Primaforce, Nutra Planet & AST and pretty much all the same except Nutra's is the cheapest per mg besides Primordial. I go for capsules with at least 1g of CLA per capsule.
 
hey everyone,

talked with the primordial reps and they recommended to take it with meals. i tried that and now i feel fine. also realized for the past 2 weeks i was kind of backed up (intestinally) and I'm guessing that even affected the pipes further up (stomach), which could have caused the burp up and acidic problem.

now i'm able to take it with meals, or without meals and it's ok.

thanks to the primordial reps who answered quickly and were very helpful.

i've tried MRM CLA, NOW CLA, and now primordial and although I can't say this works better or worse, I think I'll stick with it from now on since it is esterfied and should absorb better.
