Couple of quick Qs re: Prime for MMA - basically i have a strength program i use when i dont have a fight & up to 9 weeks out (ME Upper, ME lower & RE Upper days using a hybrid of 5/3/1 & WW4SB), then switch to power work for a month to 5 weeks out & then 4 weeks of basically met-con work to 7 days out - if i was to take Prime to peak for fight day, when would i start, how would i dose it (ive been told running it daily is fine) & when would i stop (as there'll be a carryover where it will still be in my system)?
If i took it as per label i would be 8 weeks worth, if i took it daily i would get almot 6 weeks worth...

First - Thank You for your interest. I think you may be interested to know that our CEO, Jacob, is a practicing MMA athlete...

Prime will allow you to recover at a rate that you have not yet experienced, allow for a killer combat aggression and strength that will leave the competition begging for mercy...

I will let Jacob stop in and comment on this one, and give his incite as it is always great to hear input from a same-sport athlete.

I have a couple questions in return..

1. what does this all mean (ME Upper, ME lower & RE Upper days using a hybrid of 5/3/1 & WW4SB)..

2. Your fight prep is 9 weeks?

3. Your first program is 5 weeks of one proramd than switch to 4 weeks of Met-con.. What is Met-con

4. Any other supplements
5. What time do you train
6. What is your meal before training consist of
7. Does your dieting strategy change during the 9 weeks prep?
8. what weight do you start training and what weight do you fight at?
9. Do you cut weight the days before weigh ins

1 - My off-season (no upcoming fight) consists of 3 strength workouts, 3 cardio workouts - 1 MAX Effort Lower body day, 1x MAX Effort Upper day & 1x Repition Upper Body Day + 2x Ride & Swims, 1x Run

2 - Preferably 12 weeks, but we dont always have that luxury! 9 weeks out would be 8 weeks training, 1 week rest

3 - MetCon = Metabolic Condititioning - mainly circuit work mimicing the rounds of the fight

4 - BCAAs, Whey, Beta-A, Creatine Mono, Citruline Malate etc - nothing fancy

5 - Strength & conditioning 6am, Skills 6-8pm

6 - Either a shake inc fruit or simpler carbs 60-90mins before training or a denser meal like chicken & rice or low fat pasta 2 hours before training

7 - Yes, incorporate more low-carb days & less high carb days, drop creatine 2 weeks out, low-carb & water load a week out

8 - Walk at apx 165lbs, fight at 155lbs, dropping to 145lb division (im 5ft 7)

9 - Yes, usually only around 2lbs

Cheers

I have been training in MMA for almost 4 years now, every week. I have been supplementing USPLabs since well before I joined them, and I can tell you, I have noticed a huge difference with supplementing Prime. The recovery aspect is un-matched. And if you have been training for any length of time you understand how hard it is to stay fresh in all aspects.

The strength and aggression increase are great, but for solely MMA purposes - those are secondary to just staying recovered.

I hear ya mate - 99% of us work at least full time, bust our arses in the gym, then back it up in the ring that night, study & try run households/families too, its hard to back it up day after day - i definately think recovery is as important as conditioning, unfortunatly its taken me a long time to realise, i tried to rely on work ethic & see where i could fit another session in, now i have a 2:1 ratio work:recovery, as in every 2 session of work i put in, i dedicate 1 to recovery, whether it be a massage, sauna, ice bath etc - so if i put in 14 sessions breaking me down, ill do 7 sessions a week of some form of recovery.

What I really noticed, as already said, was improved recovery. My shoulders and lower back usually take a pounding as my style is more of grinder style of fighting. While I used Prime (following the 69 Protocol), my body always felt fresh and my CNS was barely fatigued. I did not notice significant strength gains in the weight room, but I felt stronger on the mat. I liken it to a mild PH.
