Presidential Debate #2

I personally think Bush definately did much better than in the first debate. Kerry did just as good as last time.

As far as substance of the debate is concerned, I though GWB won last time, so I'm definately under the impression Bush won on substance this time, BUT then I knew Kerry "sounded" much better in the way he presents himself. I guess that's because I'm educated as a voter and don't accept what I read in the LA Times and see on CNN as unbiased, or even truth. Now, how the average independent idiot viewed it is different than how I do. (yes, idiot; if you don't know who you're voting for right now, you're an idiot and I personally think you should not be voting.) Kerry is undoubtedly a better speaker and a better debator. So, they'll probably think Kerry won. The margin should be smaller though.

Personally, I've lost faith in the intelligence and education level of the American people. Polls showed Edwards winning the debate w/ Cheney? ROFLMAO...my freaking god.

yeah, i'll feel the same way if Bush wins in November... any remaining faith I had in the average American will be gone. I'll say this much, tonight was the only time I've ever seen Bush speak and not think he came across as a total idiot, no lie I'm being completely honest, so in that sense he did pretty well. I was very impressed by Kerry though, he tried to get as specific as possible about his plans on Iraq, health care, the deficit etc and I thought he expressed himself well. If that was how he presented himself in the first debate (I didn't see it) I think that's a good thing.
 
Kerry is always good about going into detail. He just never actually makes a relevant point. His ideas for getting the troops out of Iraq are just retarded. He's doing the same thing as Bush. He says he'll "speed up" the process by sending Iraqi troops to America to train...hmm...for someone who claims to be so tough on terror, this is a retarded move. Honestly, lets just start shipping Al Qaeda to America! His health care plan I think he made progress on, but I'm never for increasing the governments role. Dr's will be forced out of practice! I can guarantee that Dr's will HAVE TO accept this insurance Kerry proposes, and the government insurance will not pay enough to doctors to support a practice. We're just going to end up a pussy socialist pseudo-european country with crappier health care than the former America...On cutting the deficit, Kerry didn't answer that question at all...I don't know where you go the detail from. He talked about rollling back the tax cuts, but that's about as deep as he got into it.

I wish debates were like baseball because we really need a pinch-hitter on Bush's side.

One thing is for sure, Kerry is a much better public speaker and in a completely different league as a debator.
 
Bush did much better this time. It was funny when he got angry though. But I will be voting for Kerry.

If kerry ends up winning the election, i give him one year before the "impeach kerry" bumper stickers come out and michael moore makes ANOTHER "documentary" bashing HIS presidency. How can anyone be confident in this guy when he HAS YET to give any solid idea of how he will do things differently? All he can say is " i will do things better." Any of his policies he describes are not much different from bush's. Bush might come across as less than smart but at least you know he's going to make a decision and ACT on it. As far as kerry making that remark about letting the countries who didn't help us in the war in on the rebuilding of iraq- that's a freakin joke. Sack up and show some backbone. why should they reap ANY benefits from a war they didn't support? Especially the french who were basically bought off by saddam. Kerry is a phony. His whole political career has been self serving. he will support any cause and take any stance that will get him into the office. That is definitely not what i look for in a leader. He voted against the bill to supply our troops with the ammo and armor they needed to win this war and tonight he said he did it because "he wanted the pres. to be held accountable for his actions." I wonder how parents of soldiers who have been killed there feel about him putting their sons and daughters in FURTHER danger just to make a point. Once again instead of doing the right thing, he chose to act in a way to help further his political career at the expense of brave americans. Great guy. A tree huggers dream.

No, they just came out with the official count; he said it over 30 times!! Ha, ha, ha!

I was suprised to find out that Kerry was much more repetitive that Bush. He's very verbally saavy, so I guess his repetition is less prominent because of it.

Bush's biggest phrase was said like 18 times, whereas Kerry's was 68 times!

4. MOST IMPORTANT- Play both sides of every argument. It can be done if worded correctly. example- I'm for suntans but I strongly oppose sunshine.
5. ABOVE ALL ELSE- BE VAGUE. we'll figure out our actually policies if we get elected. first things first.

III. Presentation
1. Try to sound like that guy from "Unsolved Mysteries"
2. Try to stand imposingly over THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES,LEADER OF THE FREE WORLD AND MOST POWERFUL COUNTRY IN SAID WORLD when you tell him, to his face, that he has pretty much F'd everything up in the last four years and you can do better. Also point at him and gesture towards him with your thumb like he's insignificant. Do not show any amount of respect for the position.
3. In order to offset #2, use the phrase "it's an honor to be here again with you Mr. President."
 
Kerry sounded great while beating around the bush and using big words which sounds cool if you to most people not concerned with real issues. Kerry couldn't even give a straight answer on the military draft issue while Bush flat out said he wouldn't use the draft. Kerry was spewing crap about what others thought about the draft (i.e. Richard Clark) I hope that was good enough to cost him votes among young Americans cause he didn't address us with a straight answer

The Reality: Bush is fine, he needed to do better which he did - there aren't many undecided voters - and the republican base isn't 'giving up' on Bush and letting a socialist like Kerry take power.

The Reality: Bush got faulty intelligence.

Bush was much better and Kerry was more of the same. I would say it was a draw. I still think Kerry needed to address the flip flop issue and clearly say how his plan for Iraq is different than Bush's, which he didn't do. Kerry frequently didn't answer questions as usual but it sounded good dodging them. People who pay attention to style rather than substance will be impressed by him.

Yeah, he just said that there was "already" a "backdoor draft" going on right now, as if he was saying "gee, if my fellow democrats bill to reinstate the draft happens to make it through, and I implement the draft to 'distribute the burden' --as they say--it won't be much different than what's going on now, and it'll be Bush's fault anyway."

EDIT: Flash polls @ CNN.com and FoxNews.com are showing Bush won the debate at a ~56% to ~42%.

while listening to this debate i started to get annoyed how kerry would "express" his deepest respect for some of the questions put upon him....kerry would go on and on how bush's labels don't mean a thing. kerry would continue to discuss the title names of his awsome, "secret" little plans to rule the world and make it perfect, but hardly went into detail to explain the difference of his plans compared to what is already in place. kerry is no more of man then bush. his vocabulary mabye a little more advanced but fancy words don't mean a thing to me. also, majority of kerry's creative little schemes have already been addressed! oddly enough the bills that are quite similar to kerry's new improved plans were brought to the senate where kerry never voted on them. so these last 20 years kerry never voted on any of the bills he is currently representing. since the majority of the american people want somebody who sounds cool and educated on camera he will probably win. though these same american people who vote for these reasons have no idea what kerry is initially saying or what his words mean. just my opinion.......:think:
 
His plans are right out there in the open. You just never went to his website. No one can explain a plan for war, the economy, or healthcare in 2 hours, let alone 2 minutes.

Then again, you're all blind sheep so I'm wondering to myself right now why I'm bothering to reply to this thread.

Ha, ha... again we disagree. If he cannot explain his position on those things in two hours, why is it that on HIS WEBSITE he sums:

up his plan on the econom in 424 words! (I copied, and pasted his "plan" into MS Word).

So, that totals 2229 words. Now, in order for him to cover all of those issues in a two hour time period, he would only need to speak 18.5 words per minute. Assuming 1/2 of the time goes to Bush he then needs 37 words per minute to cover all of those issues according to "the great detail" he put into covering those issues on the website. I don't know for sure, but I think motor-mouth Kerry can spit out more than 37 words per minute, lol. Honestly now, imagine somebody taking two seconds to say each word...roflmao.

Ya know what I think...his big elaborate plan...is a secret!! Plus, his plan on his website sounds exactly like the regurgitated rhetoric he spews out on the podium anyway.

Kerry lacks fundemental understanding of economics. I have read his economic plan on his website, and it is NOT a plan.

Speaking of the 2nd debate, myself being more libertarian than anything, was offended as hell to learn the Michael Badnarick, the libertarian party candidate, was arrested on public property for tresspassing, because he wanted to be part of the debates AS A LEGITIMATE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE! He's on the ballot in 48 states AND in Washington DC, so he's legit. He could, given the number of electoral votes, win the presidency mathematically. However, since he would have smashed both Bush and Kerry into little ridiculous peices, they refused to have him debate and even had him arrested...what kind of democracy do we live in folks? *sigh*

EDIT: As much as I like the LP ideology, I don't agree with his ideas on the war on terror, so regardless of my ideological support of the party and a multi-party system, I'd still have to go GWB.

EDIT AGAIN: The more I listen to Badnarick's foreign policies and ideas regarding terrorism, the less I feel I would support him.

You can't see any of Kerry's obvious flaws and you are Calling us sheep? I have been to his web site. His plan for Iraq is almost exactly the same as Bush's. You listed many issues that you think are important and Bush was a hell of allot closer than Kerry was to them. I wish there was an old school conservative running like Pat Buchanan. The reality is that I have a choice between Bush and Kerry. I can not vote for someone who believes the best thing for America is to turn US sovereignty over to a corrupt inept organization called the UN.
 
Kerrys changed his position on iraq 9times in 12months.
"Completely Consistant" I think not...
