Pregnenolone long-term use...safe?

It's significant. There have been studies completed on it and anecdotally, there is nothing more useful to improve memory and learning. It would always be the first thing I would recommend to anyone 30+ looking to brain hack, but I don't because it is a hormone.

I like 10mg for maintenance and on the weekends I will sometimes go up 50mg for a nice recreational experience. Mood and energy are very elevated and makes activities very interesting. As close to a "Limitless" feeling I have found, but shouldn't be run at that level for extended times because it is hormone and can convert to estrogen.

Any effect on hunger? Nausea? Anything side effect related other than conversion issues?

There is zero withdrawal from pregnenolone so I don't know who or where you are getting that information from. I've taken it for years.

Most of what I've read about it has been positive. The withdrawal thing is coming from this post which I saw on reddit:

"Careful with this. I had a really hard time coming off of Pregnenolone, even at low doses. I didn't really have medical justification for using it, but it was great to combat stress and generally made me feel great. It works, but it was debilitating for me to come off of, even at 2.5 mg every other day."

I've only seen one guy say that, so maybe that's just a weird anomaly. Hair loss however does seem to be a more common side effect. Anyway, from all the amazing testimonials I've read about it I guess I gotta give it a go... especially since I've had mono which supposedly can cause pregnenolone problems. I would rather get my serum pregnenolone tested first, however I doubt I could convince an MD to get that done for me. I've had my DHEAS tested and it was pretty high (although testosterone was low), so I'm not sure if that means my pregnenolone is likely ok or not.

I assume the 10 mg you're taking is orally and not sublingual? I have 5 mg sublingual tablets which I was planning on cutting in half and starting with that every second or third day.

I take sublingual. It is very easy to test for preg, DHEAS, and progesterone and quite common, so you would have no issue if you wanted to get tested.

The reddit post is 100% in that user's mind. There is no "coming off" of pregnenolone.

Sublingual works better for me. e2 tends to rise faster on oral and I maintain a good e2 level on sublingual form.

Well it's probably easier just to take it rather than go through all the testing. Would you be able to post a link to the 10 mg sublingual stuff you take?

I can't. Just search around, many places carry different mgs, oral, sublingual, and transdermal options.

Is there anything specific, i.e. standardisation or highly rated brand when looking for a pregnenolone supplement?
Also, does taking pregnenolone suppress your natural pregnenolone production?

I don't know about standardization. I bought 5 mg sublingual Douglas Labs stuff which is a reputable brand and has good reviews on amazon.com. I also got some Source Naturals stuff at 10 mg in case it works and I want to raise the dose.

I imagine if you have normal levels of pregnenolone it may suppress production, but if you're low if may not. I don't really know though.

Alright thanks for your input. I'll probably try 2.5 mg this Sunday and report back on how it's working after a week or so.

Just started taking this. Have noticed mental clarity and positive mood effects. Learned about it from Joe Defranco's podcast. He swears by it and DHEA supplementation

I'm taking both because of Joes recommendation. Noticing positive effects with mood and in the gym.
Been listening to lots of his podcasts and reading a lot of his info. Seems to really know what he's talking about and willing to help others.

How are you taking it? Transdermal, Oral or subligual? Also, how are you dosing each?

What benefits did you notice from adding the pregnenolone?

Dramatically improved memory, energy, slightly increased libido, mood improvement, and confidence. Without question, the most important thing added to TRT.

I have a long thread out there on it from a few years ago.

Have you got a link?

Results so far:

Tried 2.5 mg sublingual one day and didn't feel anything. Waited a couple days and tried 5 mg (today), still can't say I feel anything. Not sure if this means I'm likely low on pregnenolone or not.

I will try 10 mg on Friday probably.

I'm up snowboarding and on my phone. When I get back on Monday I can search for it.

Here is the thread:

Edit: it's not letting me insert a link because I don't have enough posts, but for anyone interested just look at topics kisaj has started and it's easy to find.

Anyway, kisaj I'm just curious whether you did a "loading dose" when you started preg, i.e. higher dose for a few days to get your levels up, then decreasing the dose. I took 10 mg yesterday and still can't say I really feel anything. Maybe I need to load up or something... I've heard of other people doing this. Anyway, I'll continue with 10 mg every other day for now for a week or so and go from there.
