Pre-Workout Cycling Advise...

Hi Guys!

I've been taking C4 and then have also taken Alphamine without taking the recommended 4 week cycle off break. Is it really necessary take a 4 week break??
I ask this because many articles that I have read state that up to 400mg of caffeine per day is safe for your average healthy adult. I personally don't drink coffee at all but only decaf green tea (about 1 or 2 t-bags a day). C4 typically has about 130mg per scoop I believe and alphamine has about 110mg per scoop. What do you guys think?? I only take them on workout days which is 5 times per week.

I personally take a stim break one week every 6 months. My weekly cycle goes two days on, one day off caffeine.

Once in awhile if I feel "off" I just rest for a whole week from the gym. This is separate from my stim break. And of course I dnt take any caffeine during this period also

I take a stim break every 4-12 weeks. It depends on how much and quickly a tolerance is building up for me. I will then take a 4-6 weeks break. Alphamine may rsuggest a break after 4 weeks because it is a fat burner. I have never used it, so I cannot directly comment on that. Hopefully a PES rep can chime in for you.

Not gonna lie, I haven't taken a break from alphamine in a minute lol. I used it on my cut for 8 weeks, and have become addicted. I still use one scoop of Raspberry Lemonade a couple of times a week because I honestly think it's the most tasty thing ever invented haha.

The break is recommended to limit the tolerance that develops with continual use. Personally, I recommend it from a cost:benefit perspective but will it kill you? Not likely.

I'll be the guy who says cycling off stims is questionable, I'm a coffee drinker, and i feel every preWO just fine.

I do think it is advisable to have low stim days/weeks though, and would never recommend long term use of stimulants other than caffeine.

But we are all unique snowflakes...

Thanks for the advice guys. Last time I cycled off was in February. Since then I would take one container of C4 then switched to Alphamine and then back to C4. And have not taken a break since. I just wonder if it will hurt my body in any way but mentally I've been fine if that counts. lol

Agreed. I've taken breaks after an extended use because my tolerance gets too high (ex. 1 scoop a day turns into 3), which obviously uses up a product much faster and results in purchasing again sooner than expected.

Stim breaks are useful. I personally will just use Hemavol during stim breaks, after switching from whatever I used while doing stims.

This pretty much sums it up. One could make arguments for health and safety, but it's really more of a cost:benefit. The 4 weeks isn't always fun, but you'll notice a greater effect once you start back up again.

Thanks for the info guys! I just started my first day yesterday working out without stims and man...what a difference. :-/

You guys recommend any supplements without caffeine? I've heard about Hemavol and also Focus XT (caffeine free version) what do you guys think?

I'd check out High Volume. Awesome non-stim option and great to mix with some stim products as well.

Thanks! I'll give this one a try!

Its a fantastic option while cycling off of stims or between stimmed pre's

Fully disclosed profile because, well, its awesome ;)

Great! I hope I like it! I ordered the pink lemonade flavor. There was also a watermelon flavor available. Which one did you like the best out of the two?

You picked my favourite, let us know how you like it brother!

Be on the lookout for the new one soon, which I can't wait to try myself

Great to hear! A lot of people love the PL because the taste mixes well with a lot of other products.

Let us know how it goes and join our newsletter list to hear about some upcoming "treats" ;)

Thanks guys! I should be getting it hopefully tomorrow or Friday.

Btw, since we are on the topic of pre-workout supplement, have any of you guys taken any pure caffeine pills with no other ingredients in it??

I ask because there's many of them that I've read the label on and for example prolab makes one with 200mg of caffeine per tablet and it states to take 1-3 a day! But none of the bottles ever mention taking an "off period" break from them. Why is that?

Again, the "off period" is so you don't build up a tolerance to the stim. It's been mentioned several times in this thread.

Exactly, the time off should come before one builds a tolerance. Just like with training, a deload should be done before one hits plateaus or experiences over training symptoms. The same could be said for dieting. One should have a refeed before their body starts to get used to the reduced cals. The whole "address it before it happens" can be applied to almost every aspect of life, not just training.

I know what you guys said. I guess my more direct question would be, why would the labeling and directions/suggestions be different on pre-workout powders like C4 and Alphamine compared to ProLab and other caffeine pills when it comes to requiring a break period?

Because it's not the FDA. They're companies own suggestions, no black and white protocol.
