Powerlifting Basics

So I have 2 exams this week. All weekend the gyms were closed due to the celebration of our Lord and Saviors death and resurrection, so I took the days off and studied (Medicine and Theology). I will start up again today hopefully with some deadlifts. Tomorrow will be my last day of lifting until the 2 exams on Friday. That's if I lift tomorrow depending on my study progress.

Also I may through up a new log for the summer. Thinking about going back to Sheiko's beginner template. That Or I may run a CMS template depending if I can add 20lbs to my lifts by June. Current total is 1370, and the CMS total is 1390 for 198.
 
Some Updates:

After about of week of not being able to go to the gym I got two work outs in. The first day was an easy squat day to ease myself back into the swing of things. Then I had a productive Bench day. Looking to deadlift tomorrow after another exam.

Squat Day:

Lunges, leg extensions, and cardio

Bench Day: No spot

315x5 -->matched my PR
325x3 -->matched my PR
330x2 ---> New PR
405x1---> used my slingshot
225x12

I tweaked my back on the last set of 225 for 12. So i decided to do a lot of machine work to no strain my back.

Machine incline superset with machine flies
Wrapped it up with 15 minutes of cardio.

It's starting to feel better. I did a very light back routine yesterday and it was obviously not 100% but probably about 80%. Feeling about 90% today. I'm gonna try pulling next week and seeing how it treats me.

A huge annoyance when it comes to lifting or anything athletic. But it's part of the game. Its not IF you get injured...it's when.

What separate the strong from the weak is the willingness to not let the setbacks, hold you back.
 
Update:

So i havent gotten in a solid workout since that bench day. Started feeling sick Sunday night...woke up Monday feeling like full blown death. Just started feelign better Thursday. Been cramming for exams, so I have had much time to get to the gym.

I may do a light machine style workout in my complexes clubhouse...better then doing nothing.

I feel like im getting weaker by not being able to train. I cant wait for the summer...Gonna blow up! Training...dieting...sleeping...its gonna be epic
 
I was able to squeeze in a quick workout. Bench on a smith machine(it was the only bench apparatus available).

Smith Bench:
305x5
355x1.5 --> really sloppy second rep so it counts as half a rep
355x1
335x2
305x3
225x burn out

Remember this was on a smith machine (no counterweight) so it was easier then normal flat bench. I doubt I would be able to bench 355 so easily.

Then i did some machine squats with 300lbs for 10 reps (it was as high as the machine went).

PUll downs (this machine was way too light, literally had 2 pulley systems so it was a joke)

After 45 minutes called it a day and went back to the books.


I havent been able to go to the gym since then, and I dont foresee when I will be able to realistically go till my semester ends in a week and a half. Way to much to study and do.

If I do squeeze in a session, I'll post it.

I got a 1 bottle of DMZ and 2 bottles of Tr3st by OL, and a doctors appointment when the school year ends. I will run the cycle after getting a complete check up, letting the doc know what Im running and acquiring the proper PCT through him. Essentially Im looking to run a legal prohormone stack and get a legal script for my cycle support and PCT(Torem, HCG, aromasin). This would be my first cycle, if I do run it. If I cant get the prescription I wont run the cycle, but I already spoke with the doctor and things looked good, but he wants to run a complete check up and run blood work through the cycle and after. Im def ok with this.
