I go in next week for a dose of radioactive iodine. It's supposed to "kill" part of my thyroid so it'll function at a normal level. The doc just has me on beta blockers in the mean time to keep my heart rate down and BP low. My cousin had the same radiation therapy and it completely killed her thyroid so she has to be on hypothyroid meds for life. What was your treatment? Apparently it worked since your still alive, but did it cure the condition or just treat the symptoms?

Tapazole first then PTU for a while and it stops the conversion of T4 ->T3 or the other way around i dont remember but all my hormones were out of whack my Test was 0 estro was extremely High and doctor said part of it had to be due to extreme stress and it was like a defense mechanism or something. but yeah I dont have to take anything anymore... Hope that treatment goes well for you bro
