Pliny the Elder anyone? beer talk

Yeah I use to work at a liquor store and we brought in 3 of them. We retailed them at $200.00 a bottle. We sold one, drank one, and my boss kept one which he later sold online for $500.00.

If I remember correctly it's like 29.00% alcohol. It didn't even taste like beer, the taste was more similar to a port wine.

jealous!

I tend to not like champagne yeast beers (like utopia). So idk about it.

I'm going to head to bevmo now and pick up a bellhaven Scottish stout.

so as head of the beer department, my boss decided to give me a pliny the elder today during work. for those who dont know, it and pliny the younger are two of the highest rated ipa's in the world. needles to say, it was fkin good

any beer advocates out there? hoping to start a good thread on the worlds greatest vice. maybe learn a thing or two for work

Yes, had Pliny the Elder last year; have yet to try Pliny the Younger.

Bought some Westvleteren 8 when I was in Brussels a few days ago. - That WAS the #1 beer for a few years, and probably the most difficult beer to get a hold of outside of 2wk brews like Pliny. I brought an empty suitcase in hopes to bring back a bag filled with Westies, but at 10euro/btl, it gets a bit pricey. :)

on a side note here, picked up a single of la fin du monde on behalf of whoever mentioned it earlier in this thread. probly wont drink it till tomorow night or thursday though

saw shipyard 6pk pumpkin beer for 12.99!!!! At my store (i work at albertsons) kinda expensive for my taste. is it worth it?

It depends what you prefer....shipyard is a good pumpkin ale don't get me wrong, you wont be disappointed. I haven't seen one person who didn't like it, but I tend to like a fuller pumpkin...harpoons

Just picked up the Pumpkinator! $8.99 per bottle and well worth it. Special release, one batch and done. People line up.

You have to get a super hot glass cutter. My dad blows glass and has an entire cabinet full of cut glass bottles.

Ya that Cali-B is one of stones best beers.
Stone also makes some interesting collaboration beers that can be really good they had a lemon one that was a great summer beverage.

had this last week at a restaurant in La Jolla it was an amazing dessert beer they only sold it in 8 oz servings
