My gym, Worlds, just got bought out by Planet Fitness. I loved my gym and I've been hearing a lot of rumors about Planet Fitness and what they do after they take over a gym. For example-machines that have no more than 100lbs max weight, no dumbells over 65lbs. They call it a non judgmental atmosphere or some trash like that so they get all the slobs who come to a gym for a week then leave never to be seen again. Anyone hear similiar stories?

By the way, its just my Worlds Gym, not all World's Gyms. I just wanted to clarify that before a nasty rumor starts.
 
Well I hope that isn't accurate...there's a guy building a Planet Fitness in the next town over and I let my regular gym membership lapse so I could join Planet. For military members he's charging only $10 a month with no contract so I figured it would be worth it considering all the equipment would be brand new. Very nice guy, his brother used to own a real hardcore gym that my friend went to for years, so I hope he's not opening a pansy parlor!!!
 
Something similar to happened to me. Used to train at a great privately owned gym. Once PF bought them, they got rid of all the dumbells over 65lbs, removed all but one bench press and incline station, and dumped the squat racks.

I promptly had my contract terminated and went to a real gym.

Swear I heard a radio commercial about Planet Fitness opening in central Florida and it sounded like what you posted.

All there is in my area is a health club associated with a local hospital and the YMCA.
