Perhaps I have gone too far...

I am starting to wonder if I am way too obsessed with Wanderlei Silva. I have seen every one of his fights multiple times (except for some of the IVC events) and my cats name is Wanderlei. That in itself is not too bad, but I have recently flirted with the idea of getting the same tattoo that he has on the back of his head. It seems like everytime I see it, I want to get my own a little bit more. So I have asked a few people and those who watch MMA think that it is awesome, but those who don't think that it is a terrible idea.

Here is a pic for those who don't know what I am talking about

I don't have a cat named Wanderlei, she's Fedor of course(just kidding). I love the guy too, and have been watching his fights over and over for the last 5 years. I have also thought of getting the tat on the back of my head, but definitely will never do it. Do you have other tats? The tat is badass and I can't think of a better place for a tat then the back of your head. That way you're only a crazy **** when you're bald. I'll probably never get any tat, but if I did it would probably be something similar to Wand's. My advice would be no, but do whatever makes you happy.

I have the eye of Osiris on my left shoulder and Japanese Kanji on my right shoulder (the characters say honor, integrity, courage). I am usually not a big fan of tribal tats, but I love Wandy's.

That's a pretty cool tattoo, but I think I would want one that's my own style. I've never thought about getting a head tat, but I like that idea.

I usually abhore the idea of getting the same tat as someone else, but this more of an homage than a personal expression.

I think if it was me, I wouldn't do it because I would regret it later. Things that mean something now may not mean the same thing to you in even 3 or 4 years. Of course you can cover this tat up as long as you don't have baldness in your future (and even then you could probably still hide it). But then again my body is a complete work of art minus the tiny calves.

That is my philosophy, I can show whether or not I want to show it. If I do get it, then it will definitely be before my fight in the Spring.

Are you prone to Male Pattern Baldness, Rodja?

If so, consider that possibility of not having the choice to cover a head tat, being 35+ and wishing you did'nt have a decorated skull.

I never got a tat anywhere, hidden place or not, cause I don't want to be permanenetly adorned with associations to my past that would no longer suit me.
Nope, my mom's dad has a full head of hair.

MPB should not be an issue with the location of Wand's tat. Whether you should get one is up to you but I wouldn't recommend it. Admiration or adoration is one thing but to physcially and permanently alter oneself is a bit drastic. That said I always liked Genki Sudo's back piece though.

F*ck that, if I got a tattoo it would be the grim reaper holding the baby a la Aleks Emelianenko. Just kidding, I'm sure I'll never get a tat, doesn't fit my style.

While that is a great tribute, I would hold off if I were you. As Rogue said, you may not want to be left with such an association in the future. I almost got some tattoos a while back that make no sense today. I'm glad I waited, and I wish I had put more thought into the ones I have.

If you want to go for the back of the head piece, I think you should do something original and different...and if I were you, I would stay away from tribal. If you are fortunate enough to be of Irish descent ( :D ), quality Celtic knotwork is beautiful.

You're after my heart Beowulf... all mine are either Celtic Knotwork, or Irish in design... all heritage.

Anyways, I think that copying an idol's tattoo may be going a tad far. All the above posters have good points.

Plus I don't really like that Tattoo.

Damn, Ubi, you're looking huge (get your mind out of the gutter). Congrats on the outstanding heritage

No, it is a bad idea. The tattoo is unique to Silva and it should be. Don't become one of the weird fans.

A good homage would be like a portrait of wanderlei on you calf. As for me I think I'm going get a tattoo of wand's head on my head. What do you think of that?

I like it, kind of like Steve-O's self portrait on his back:icon_lol:
