Pec muscle activation

Hi,

Struggling to make the mind muscle connection with my right pec when doing flat and incline press.

I focus on trying to squeeze the centre of my chest and bringing my elbows together on the movement.

Any tips or advice??

Many ppl dont get great activation on barbell presses. Db press, db fly, cable crossover, those are easier to get that activation. Flat bench is my favorite exercise. Unfortunately it only makes me better at flat bench and grows my shoulders lol

You could try a unilateral db press on the right side with light weight; just to pre-exhaust them a bit and then try traditional flat or incline bench to see if you feel more right pec activation. Added bonus; lift with your eyes closed.

Use less weight, bring the grip in a bit, and pause each rep. I like the bar to hit below the nipple on flat at the sternum pretty much. On incline right at the nipple. Let the bar sink in, while still controlling/holding the weight.

DB bench, I use the first notch up. It’s s slight angle. I also angle the dbs…looks like s triangle…bring them all the way down and just outside the pecs, with a pause at the bottom. Again use less weight.

The feeling, pump, and somewhat quick mass you’ll put on with those techniques will greatly outweigh the fact you’re using less weight….that is, if ‘weight on the bar is important to ya’. And eventually the weight you’re lifting will increase, combined with the impressive technique….Now you’re cookin
