PC SYSTEM TOOLS VIRUS is a biyotch!!

Did anyone ever get this PC System Tools virus/spyware/malware/whatevers? It totally shuts down your comp where you can't access any programs/anti-virus software, and even the internet. You just get a blue background and all these pop-ups warning about X amount of viruses on your computer and to download their updated software. They ask for a credit card number and everything! Whatever you do, do not get it!

I had to use my iPhone to google what was up and found out you have to get Windows into safe mode just to access any type of software and proceed foward. Through a ton of researching, all I could come up with was all these malware/spyware programs which are quite expensive. I finally came accross a useful site that gave pretty good free alternatives and right now I'm doing a complete virus scan on my comp.

This was such a pain in the azz! Anyone else experience this?

I downloaded something called "mini pe" from Piratebay. Its a cd that you put in your drive, restart your computer and then run scans from the disk. It usually finds everything. Other free programs are AVG, Mawarebytes and Spyware Terminator.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'm not very computer literate, especially when it comes to viruses and whatnot, but I think it's time I get in tune. That System Tools crap was a b!tch to deal with!!

Malwarebytes is awesome for getting rid of those kinds of infections, definitely my go to program when I am cleaning up someone's pc.

This virus really blows, man. Hit my g/f's pc a few weeks ago and my friend's pc last week...there were no AV programs out at the time with a solution so I had blank their hd's. I actually got the virus a couple of days ago and luckily my AV program updated it's virus database and found it. The process to clear it sucked, but it did get rid of it. Download aVast anti-virus...it's free and can solve this problem

Yeah, that's the funny thing! I have avast and it somehow slipped past it?! I finally got it cleared up after about 3 hours of work. It was quite frustrating to say the least! :banghead:
