This has probably been mentioned here before, but GTX did file a patent for their SARMS to fight hair loss. The premise seems to be that they will attach to the AR in the hair , and potentially block DHT from attaching.
"This invention also provides a method of treating a subject suffering from hair loss, comprising the step of administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of a 5-α reductase enzyme type 1 and/or type 2 inhibitor, wherein said inhibitor is a selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM) and/or its analog, derivative, isomer, metabolite, pharmaceutically acceptable salt, pharmaceutical product, hydrate, N-oxide, or any combination thereof as described herein. "
Patent US20100280107 - TREATING BENIGN PROSTATE HYPERPLASIA WITH SARMS - Google Patents
That was filed in 2010 and granted in Jan 2012.
Now, I have seen reports of some shedding on Osta/S4, so I don't know. But this could be very similar to fin shedding that is common when people start taking propecia. Usually, there is a period of shedding as old/weaker hairs are being pushed out for thicker/healthy hairs. So, some reports of shedding on SARMS could be similar to that in which DHT is being somewhat blocked via the SARMS in the hair receptors and thus stronger hair is pushing out weaker hair (if one has MPB in the first place).
Other than that, don't see anything more on this (trials, etc)...just the patent. Also, since GTX is focused on Osta...I assume this is the SARM they filed the patent on. ??
