Open Letter To Washington Post and Ms. Amy Shipley

she called us as well and asked the same thing we did not call her back and won't, she asked about oratropin and wanted info and pictures I knew something seem strange
weird!
It seems she is picking on all AM board sponsors.

Yeah, weird, huh?

Well with all her noising around, why not just come out and ask the questions? It seems a better way to get answers? I mean this way you do not need to be secretive, many would like to show a different view of weightlifting with supplementation and sometimes steroid USE, not abuse.

These guys are basing their position on information that comes to them from what they consider to be informed, educated, reliable sources; remember that most doctors, even if wrong, honestly believe that steroids are dangerous to your health. The politicians mentioned above are not acting with malice. Everybody acts like these guys know the truth and choose to have these positions anyway.

Since the overwhelming majority of the medical community (again, even if wrong) will tell anyone who listens that steroids are horrible for you, how can you blame the congressmen and senators for believing them? If a large number of experts kept telling you something, would you take their word for it or would you go searching for someone to tell you different and then believe that person? Set your personal beliefs about the subject aside and think about it from their perspective.

The problem is the misinformation itself, not the people who rely on it in good faith and with no malice.

In some regard I agree with you extensively, but just as they want others to be responsible in their decisions, they too need to be. During the hearings for rescheduling of AAS the FDA and DEA spoke strongly in disfavor of controls. At the last hearing several experts challenged the uninformed medical groups to prove anything they claimed. The reply was simply a section from the PDR in regard to potential side effects for Halotestin...which includes aromatization concerns and screams of research no one could site. We have sent many accredited experts to lobby for the supplement industry that have proven our safety profile being many times better than the food industry. On line and in mags there a thousand article from experts that provide all of the proof in favor of us. LEF.org send many MD's that actually had knowledge in the field of AAS and supplementation to Washington. It is simply a matter of ignoring, not ignorance for the most part.

Of course I have to add that Bruce and I offered Ms. Shipley the chance to interview us in a public forum to be sure no words were lost between us, but has not done so. It appears she has been here many times to read this section based upon her most recent phone calls and letters sent to us. For give me if I am in error, but it appears she simply wants the story told in her light, not based upon truth or knowledge. Why else hide the information as it was presented?
