ANyone else having trouble gaining lean mass working in an office all day? I'm pushing 10+ hrs per day and feel like a slob eating so much yet doing nothing all day until I train....sucks.....

Actually, for bulking I have the opposite view. Yes, I feel lethargic in an office but you have to consider that you are getting all the rest you need and all the time you need to pack in the calories. I'm a hard gainer so this type of situation is a blessing when it comes up.

As long as your training is spot on, it's a great environment to grow physically even though the psychologocal part is harder to take.

Dude, that's a prime setting to be in while bulking. As long as your training is good and you're getting the required calories, your body is resting and growing as you sit on your ass doing nothing. Just look at it as a modified and extended power nap.

Plus I get to eat all the time too...not like a job where you are out and about or in a factory and eating time is limited....

I keep two cans of Quaker Oats in my cube at all times (whole oats and instant). I also keep a 25 pound jug of Optimum Whey and fish oil caps. I very rarely eat crap at work. I try to plan my meals the night before.....if for some reason I can't plan ahead, I can eat oatmeal and protein shakes along with some fish oil.

I would shoot my self if I worked in a cube. More power to ya. Just don't give into **** food. I would lift in the morning and then get to work and eat 300 calories every 2 hours.

Theres another forum besides here and the adult section?

Ok I will give it a look.

I work IT which puts me at a terminal constantly. I move as much as I can, but most days I am trapped at the desk. So when the opportunity arises, I walk instead of riding. I carry instead of using carts and wagons. If activity needs to increase then find ways to increase it within the scope of your daily life. I look at the positive side. I can manage my eating and my energy expenditures more acurately than I did years ago when I worked in the field. So I say learn to recognize the advantages and exploit them.

Press On...

Well i used to work labor and burning those extra calories means you need to eat more calories, you work in an optimal environment for bulking. Cuuting will be interesting tho.
If you feel sluggish try stretching whenever possible to promote blood flo , in asian workplaces they stop for dance breaks where employees dance to prevent body lag. Im glad we dont do the YMCA at work here.

Yeah, as a roofer, finding time to eat while I'm bulking absolutely blows, but cutting is always easy. I'm too busy all day long to notice the hunger pangs, and I'm burning quite a few calories in the process.

Yeah, cutting and doing construction is a breeze, lol. I lost a good 9 pounds in 12 days with an EC stack and painting my house all day, everyday. Trying to eat enough in that environment is a real hassle..especially if you have a boss or foreman looking over your shoulder all the time. Hard to break every 3 hours and run to your cooler.

Being in the office all day and bulking..total breeze.

I work mostly behind a desk, but I can also be out in the petrochemical plant.

I find my biggest problem is that I get pulled into meeting after meeting (it's commen in chemical plants apparently) causing me to have to delay when I eat. The other thing is people (my boss and senior engineer esp.) coming into my office wanting data or something of the sort. I invariably get them what they want, but then end up talking about it/brainstorming/etc. which ends up taking up an hour or so (more if it involves going out into the plant). That happened at the end of work today - stayed 40 mins. longer and didn't have any milk to make a protein shake (which got my meal off by over an hour by the time I could get to a store).

I think the eating part was better when I first hired on and had less responsibility.

I wish I had a damn desk job, preferably next door to my favorite food spot! :)

When I worked for a biotech company, I was constantly from building to building with food in hand.. I ate almost every hour, sat for 45mins at a time, then was up to eat again.. Now, I gotta either duck out back to munch on a burger or mix up a Muscle Milk and sip it at the register.. At least my boss doesn't mind my constant eating, although he insists I use a digestive enzyme.. :ntome:

I work IT as well and Im in a cube all day, although I take an hour break for lunch and usually go for a walk or something.

Coming from a job where i was running my ass off 12 hours a day (restaurant management), Im in heaven!! Eat every 2-3 hours, a fridge and microwave right down the hall, etc.

Just cant give into temptation, because there's cakes/snacks *everywhere* at my job.
