Odd blood test...

I was in the hospital recently with a horrible flu, and got out after two days after getting IV'ed with tons of fluids, minerals, etc.

It's about a week after the whole ordeal and I get a call back from my doc who says my blood tests were ok, but something causes alarm. He said that my blood glucose levels were much higher than normal and wanted to check with me to see what was the matter.

Now, maybe a week before getting my blood taken, I just ramped down on a cycle of T3 (3 weeks, slowly ramping up to 50mg, and then REALLY slowly back down to nothing). Would this much T3 have such an impact on my blodd glucose levels. I'm not too scared cause the doc said everything's probably alright, but i'm still REAL curious as to why this happened. I do have history of diabetes in my family, but I'm in great shape, eat great, etc. so what gives? Thanks fellas!

this may be a stupid question- but were you in a fasted state when the blood was drawn? If you ingested any carbs prior to the draw that may be where the extra glucose may be from.

I was VERY fasted. I had just spent the last 11 hours puking out EVERYTHING i had in me! There's more down there than I thought!>) Anyways, they had me hooked up to an IV and the nurse said they had fluids, some potassium/sodium, and some dextrose running through me. So, I don't know if that coulda skewed the results, but I wouldn't be surprised if it threw something off at least. Anyone else have any ideas?

dextrose via IV? Yeah, that would raise glucose levels I'd think ;)
