Ninja Creami - Protein Ice Cream

Pulled the trigger on the creami - my ice cream cravings have been absolutely absurd lately and I figured it was time. From reading up on recipes, it seems the general approach is:

A) liquid base (almond milk, water, milk, pre-made protein shakes like premier/quest)
B) Sweetener of choice (coffee creamer, artificial sweetener, stevia drops, pudding mix)
C) protein powder
D) xanthan gum (optional)
E) egg whites (optional, but allegedly helps with consistency)

So I’ll be sticking with this framework. If anyone has personal recipes/protein powder recommendations, please feel free to share. I’ll be posting different flavor combos below as I try them out.

***********************************************************************

Flavors tested:

Fruity Cereal Milk:
-Ghost whey fruity cereal milk - 2 scoops
-Almond milk - 350g
-White chocolate pudding SF - 1 serving
-Xantham gum - 4g
-Vanilla crème stevia drops - 10
-Salt to taste

220272

220333

-1 Quest salted caramel shake
-1 Scoop Vanilla Caramel whey (Axe & Sledge)
-12g Lily's caramel chocolate chips
-5 drops vanilla creme stevia

220334

Chocolate Banana Peanut Butter:

-1 Fairlife CORE chocolate protein shake

220484

Damn! I bought this 2 weeks ago and opened it and watched the videos on how to use it. They said need to prep the ice cream 24 hours in advance. That was too much of a commitment for me so I returned it and got the traditional Cuisinart one. I am regretting doing that now after seeing your pics.

Today’s batch:

Cinnamon chocolate caramel coffee ice cream:

-240ml Fairlife chocolate milk (reduced fat)
-120g liquid egg whites
-1.5 scoops vanilla caramel latte protein (Axe & Sledge)
-2 tbps artificial sweetener
-1tsp cinnamon
-1/4 tsp pink Himalayan salt

Before spinning:
IMG_2411.JPG

After 2 spins on “Lite Ice Cream” setting:
IMG_2412.JPG
IMG_2414.JPG

Nice light chocolate flavor coming through from the Fairlife, and subtle caramel flavor from Axe & Sledge. Picked that protein because reviews said it was overly sweet - perfect for my purposes.

Paired perfectly with Lily’s chocolate caramel chocolate chips.

Consistency was so thick after the first spin that when I stuck my spoon in right off the bat, the entire pint picked up with it. After two spins, consistency very similar to frozen custard.

Macros:
Protein - 62g
Carbs - 22g
Fat - 7g

Obviously could’ve gone lighter on protein powder & egg whites to get a lower calorie pint overall, but wanted to see how the flavors came out

Gonna browse pre-made protein shakes at my local grocer to see how the consistency turns out with minimal prep work. Thinking Quest salted caramel bottle + Axe & Sledge vanilla caramel latte Protein

Or I could go with Axe & Sledge + Quest Vanilla or Premier cinnamon roll

Feel free to throw out any flavor combos or ingredients you all want me to try

Next week I'm definitely gonna go a fruit-based route. Maybe a vanilla protein base with some frozen blueberries mixed in after the first spin, or Axe & Sledge banana dip-n-dots with some PB2 mixed in

My suggestion would be PES Select Peppermint or Cake Pop.They both mix thick and cake pop is a little on the sweeter side.

Actually went to my local vitamin shoppe to look for cake pop yesterday but they were out. Def will be testing it for sure as it has been one of my staple protein powders for awhile

It’s about $50 on Amazon. Here is a pic of the ice cream I made for my kids tonight. The only ingredients are 16 oz of oat milk and two scoops of orange creamsicle iso whey protein powder. The ice cream is ready in about 15 minutes. It is pretty good imo. Not nearly as good as that Ninja ice cream maker though I would think.

Creamsicle sounds fire, I gotta try that. It would be so clutch to get a 30 pack of different samples from the isopure line

Made one more tonight. Consistency was absolutely perfect. Sort of reminded me of the texture of homemade ice cream from one of those old school hand pump ice cream machines. Taste was great too - super rich caramel flavor without the funky artificial flavor

Salted caramel:
1 Salted caramel quest shake
1 scoop vanilla caramel (axe & sledge isolate)
5 drops vanilla crème stevia
12g Lilys chocolate caramel chips
Salt

-12g PB2
-1 Fairlife CORE chocolate protein shake

220481

Berry Sorbet:

It was straight money. Powered through the whole thing and immediately stuck two more in the freezer for tomorrow

Have been using my daily pint as a post-workout snack with a couple rice cakes and some honey drizzled on top while I sip on my creatine. Caramel rice cakes broken up into the ice cream make it taste like little pieces of ice cream cone with it

Been annihilating marshmallow flavored all week, but did make one pint of PB to test out flavors

Peanut butter:

1 GNC peanut butter puff protein shake
6 g PB2 (all I had left 🥲)
1 scoop isopure
6 drops vanilla crème stevia

Not nearly peanut buttery enough to satisfy the PB cravings, but nice consistency

IMG_2450.JPG

Will be trying all new flavors next week, and moving away from pre-made shakes as the liquid base to lower calorie pints with unsweetened vanilla almond milk and PES select protein.

Going to aim for good sweetness/consistency for 200 cals or less

Although premier has a root beer float protein shake I may have to use to make a root beer float pint if I can find that flavor near me

Banana Split:

-2 Scoops Axe & Sledge Banana Split Dip N' Dots Ice cream flavor
-240 ml unsweetened almond milk
-50g egg whites
-6 drops vanilla creme stevia

This is the second axe & Sledge flavor I've used for ice cream and I'm starting to think they have my ice-cream interests in mind when they design their flavors. Unreal delicious and super sweet. Hardly need to add any sweeteners to it

sorry for the delay gents - Was sizzling like bacon on a beach in Nassau since last thursday. Back on that ice cream grind now though starting with a brand new recipe for creamier consistency.

Here is what I'll be using for the next couple weeks as a base:
240ml unsweetened cashew milk - 25 cals
100g low fat cottage cheese - 80 cals
30ml Torani sugar free syrup - 0 cals

You might be grossed out by cottage cheese, as am I. But everyone in this ninja creami anabolic facebook group was raving about using it so I thought I'd give it a shot. Blended the above with an emulsion blender for like 10 seconds before freezing overnight. Absolute game changer

Here's the first result using Beverly UMP cookies n creme as the protein powder

221102

Macros: P: 35g; C: 7g; F; 6g (225 cals total)

Little less protein content per pint, but 100 less cals, and WAY THICKER. Kinda reminded me of the consistency of gelato from one of those fancy italian restaurants. Heck of a lot more filling too. Super good

This with the axe and sledge banana dip n dots protein and some sugar free caramel syrup to make this salted caramel banana situation that I’ve been enjoying

I ordred a Creami months ago and it finally arrived Tuesday. So yesterday i had my first pint and holy ****, this thing is legit.

I started out as easy as possible and made 1 for me and 1 for my fiance. Mine was:
  • 1 scoop SELECT Cookies & Cream
  • 100g Low fat Cottage Cheese
  • 2dl water
  • 10g Callebaut 80% dark chocolate as mix in
My fiance got this:
  • 1 scoop SELECT Cake Pop
  • 100g Low fat Cottage Cheese
  • 2dl water
  • 20g home made granola as mix in
Holy **** dudes. It was so creamy and tasty and lots of volume!

There are all kinds of techniques to enhance the flavour and mouth feel, but you really dont need anything more complicated. I will be experimenting with this all summer. Ice cream every evening!

My kids got me one for Father’s Day. I’m going to probably makes some ice cream this weekend. Seeing how you can use cottage cheese as a base, I’d like to experiment with fresh strawberries and graham crackers to make a strawberry cheese cake ice cream. Im thinking vanilla protein or cake pop flavor would work with it.

I made a SELECT Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup for today and mixed in some peanuts. It was awesome.

For tomorrow I’m making a SELECT Strawberry Cheesecake with strawberries and then add some Biscoff cookies for the mix in.

Both sound really good. I haven’t used but one flavor of SELECT protein and that was the white chocolate macadamia nut cookie. I’m not a fan at all of that flavor. I’m hoping I’ll like the other flavors.

We don’t have that flavor in Sweden yet. But I already have an idea for a pint with that. I’d use the Lenny & Larry Complete Cookie white chocolate macadamia as a mix in!

In a regular blender? Absolutely, that’s Greg Doucette “Anabolic ice cream”. I’ve had a hard time getting it 100% perfect though. The Creami makes it easy as pie.

White chocolate macadamia nut cookies are my favorite, tied with chocolate chip!

Using the chemi for the first time tonight. Made the base yesterday so it’s been in the freezer for 24 hours. One will be cookies and cream and the other will be strawberry / banana cheesecake. Used cottage cheese, sugar free jello instant cheesecake pudding, vanilla protein, fresh strawberries and fresh bananas. The other is the same except no fruit. Will add Oreo thins as a mix in for the cookies and cream.
