Alrighty next round. Who would have thought the top 4 teams in the west would be gone.

Ottawa vs Buffalo
Carolina vs New Jersey
San Jose vs Edmonton
Anaheim vs Colorado
Given my previous success ratio............lol.....anyway, 4 for 4 this time:
Buffalo
New Jersey
Edmonton:run:
colorado
I cannot pick the former Hartford Whalers. I'm still pissed off about that:nutkick:

I am now officially concerned...Bryzgalov now has a scoreless streak at about 160 minutes. In the playoffs, that is a scary stat. Hasn't this story been told before? Neophyte goalie for Anaheim gets hot, hmm...

Oilspill -- lol

whatever they're doing, its working . . .
their my hometeam, so I'm pretty excited for 'em -- first time in the western conference finals in 14 years -- and they're showing they deserve to be in it -- almost didn't make the playoffs -- if Vancouver would have been in instead I'm sure Detroit or San Jose would have knocked them out . . . anywho . . .

I was so happy to see the class the Edmonton fans had. I waited to hear their reaction when the american national anthem started...and the Edmontonians cheered! They cheered so loud it seemed like they drowned out the singer, LOL. Now that's class, and did me proud.

The san-hoser fans just got the bad karma they deserved after booing all the way through the Canadian national anthem. Which of course was a double embarrassment for them as they failed to realize that half their team is Canadian including their top 2 players.:icon_lol:

Oh well, fishing season is over. Now it's time to go duck hunting. It should be a good series, as both teams are red hot. I mean that no-name backup goalie of theirs posted 3 shutouts in a row against a very offensively talented Colorado team. I was hoping he'd beat the record, but I think he missed by 30 minutes.

Although the Oilers are undefeated against the ducks this season...

The Carolina/Buffalo series should be really worth watching. I've been hoping for Buffalo every series, but I didn't think they'd actually come this far. They have good fans too.

I'm hoping for an Edmonton-Buffalo final.

Dude it's the Da Vinci code!
Man now I know why i'm not a bookie!
Good job, Edmonton.....If I had to see a carolina/california final, I'd be:trout:
My picks (help me Jesus..a la "church lady" SNL)
Carolina
Edmonton
Any malaproprims which subsequently occur are entirely due to the low card diet:blink:

sorry edmonton but i think its goona come down to goalies, I pick........ anaheim.

bring the SPF just in case . . . lol

Oh yeah, in case it wasn't clear:

Edmonton - Buffalo

Of course from day 1, I picked Edmonton to win the cup. Any other prediction I get right is just a bonus, but not nearly as important. :) Better offence, better defence, better goaltending, better heart. :study: The ducks backup goalie is good, no doubt, but considering he's played less than half the minutes Roloson had, plus a first series against the offensively challenged Calgary Flames, I give the nod to Roli.

The Oilers haven't lost to the ducks at home since 1999, and never lost a game all year against them this season. Now all bets are off come playoff time, but I still like our chances...

Right on, I like those stats, lets keep our fingers crossed -- I gotta say -- I feel awful for you without your Jets -- maybe if they'd have had salary caps a long time ago it would have made the difference for the Canadian teams that didn't have the big bucks . . . Quebec Nordiques too

No need to feel awful - I've been a hardcore Edmonton Oiler fan since 1982, LoL, and that's never changed since.

I grew up in a northern Manitoba mining town, and one of the few channels we got was ITV - which carried the Oiler games.
Kind of like most of Canada hates Toronto, there's a lot of northern Manitobans who hate Winnipeg. :) Well, that plus the Oilers were the most exciting team to watch that whole decade.

I quite honestly hate living here and I have no love for the Jets. :) I think a lot of people would like them to be here, but the general population of Winnipeg just honestly cannot afford the price of tickets. We're just a very underpaid city in relation to other centers, and have little corporate help. Maybe in 10 years time? Hopefully I'll be long gone before it happens though.

The CBA probably would have helped Winnipeg and Quebec. The CBA is what saved Edmonton from leaving.

Man i'm so happy 'm back from vacation. I was unable to watch any hockey... I thought I was going to hafta kill someone. Nowthat all of my teams were eliminated.. I'm nt sure who i want to win. I think I might pull for anaheim, just because i would like to see the Cup stay here in the US. Sorry Sunder, don't kill me.

Thats how it would have appeared -- but what the heck happened to Roloson?? he's standing on his head and has helped the Oilers take a 3 game lead --

Gotta love the Oilers brother, tonight is the night they advance. Tell me you don't just love seeing Pronger and Pecca in an Oilers uniform.....Pronger is a horse :D

OK, I don't believe a duck covered in Oil would be in good taste, so you'll have to settle for this pic instead:

BTW - the best thing about tossing the ducks out so fast is that I don't have to hear "teamwho salami" whine and cry after every game. Oh well, at least he got one prediction right: "the best team will turn this thing around".

Yup - we sure did.:hot:

The Oilers want it worse than anyone else, and in my books that means they deserve it -- I hope they take it all the way
I'm in Edmonton and by the way the riots on Whyte ave here are getting out of hand -- bunch of clowns making the city hit the news for the wrong reasons -- you don't have to start fires, throw bottles through windows, street fight, launch fireworks, hang from the traffic lights, flash the crowd -- because your team is winning -- I like to have a good time and these wins mean as much to me as anyone, but I don't see the connection between vandalism and rioting to celebration. There were 35 000 people out last night on Whyte ave and it is seriously scarey when there is no control over a crowd like that --
BTW did anyone watch Coaches corner on Game 5 Saturday when the Oilers knocked out Anaheim ?? I like Grapes -- but he was a total A-hole to Ron -- out of line totally -- I couldn't believe what a baby he was, he through such a hissy fit that he didn't want to use the last minute and a half to show another clip -- he was practically in tears :whiner:

I used to love Don Cherry, but I've lost all respect for him this year:

Problem 1: Coaches Corner in Game 1 of Edmonton vs Detroit - First words out of his mouth was about the toronto maples leafs. Get over yourself, they're gone and nobody cares. Please talk about the teams that actually made the playoffs.

Problem 2: Game 2 of Edm/Det - Cherry starts off yet again about what the maple "leave and don't come backs" are doing. You have to be kidding me! They're playing golf. We're like 4 days into the playoffs - there is nothing worth talking about that involves teams not in the playoffs - especially when it's the first thing you insist on talking about

Problem 3: (Ok, I'm not really keeping track. Kinda tuned that guy out after 1,2): Edm vs Anaheim - Cherry is wearing Carolina's logo. WTF? I don't care if he lost a bet and had to wear it - wear it on the day Carolina is playing, not when the West is playing. Why is this guy now being shown on the West games when he clearly has a hard-on for the East? Bring back Hrudey! At least he knows what teams are playing.

Prob 4: Game after that, he's not wearing a Carolina logo - but he's wearing their colors. :frustrate Let's talk about the teams currently playing tonight please. That means talk about them yesterday, or talk about them tommorrow, but they ain't playing today.

prob 5: Game 5 Edm over ducks. Cherry predicted a ducks victory at the start. Oilers won. Cherry then said "see - I told them hard work would prevail." WTF? Senile...

And don't get me started on his stupid complaining about "who's running the CBC clips? Where's my shot? Who's working this thing? etc. Which was very apparent in game 4 and 5, and probably part of what you were talking about. I give all the credit in the world to Ron for always staying so cool. I would have punched Cherry square in the nose for sure. I mean, not just out of rage, but it would be a pretty smart move to do on camera in front of the world. Let's see if Cherry really is for hard hitten Canadian grit. Imagine his reputation if he charged someone with assault - as long as you give him a warning, and don't sucker punch him - he'd have to take it like a man or he'd lose all his credit.

Then again, it might just be smarter to tell him to shut up, then talk over him while he complains. A guy like me is too pretty to be in jail. :)

I used to think his arrogence and bossyness was cool, but now I think it just makes him look like a a$$. I won't even comment on his whole anti-french Cdn and anti-European racist remarks. Again, when I was young, I thought it was cool. Now he just looks like a biggot, and is embarassing Canada.

I never liked Don Cherry precisely for those reasons, and his ****ing aweful suits and pointless commentary. I remember watching Barry (I used to coach Wayne) Melrose squirming in his studio chair after some of Don Cherry's malaproprisms-too funny. You know come to think of it, for such a "tough" guy, Don's got a rather poncey last name
Anyway, Edmonton got it done and Buffalo lives to fight another day, at least for now. With all the injuries they have though, if they advance it may be pretty smooth sailing for the Oilers. Carolina may prove tougher if it shakes out that way. Should be a great final either way though:head:

Dear Christ, I was just on vacation and just got back from NC. I was able to watch tonights game at the Arena ia it was awsome. This was my first NHL Playoof gamer and I was root for carolina to win anyways, so it worked out pretty well. All and all it was a awsome time.

Lucky Bastard!
Ok, I picked Edmonton and Carolina last round-I now am picking the Oilers to win the cup:woohoo:

With Roloson out for the season, it's going to be allot tougher . . . Gotta Dig Deep Now -- Go Oilers Go !!!!!!!!!!

On a funny note with all the Don Cherry talk -- on Coaches corner in game 1, he predicted the Oilers to win . . . it'll be interesting to see his comments now that Roli's out . . .

Edmonton still has a ton of heart and passion. That could be enough. Don Cherry is still a dumbass:rofl:

I'm still voting Edmonton to win the cup...it's just a little more of a challenge now. :)

What's with the voodoo of Carolina? They injure key opponents all the time. First there was Koivu's eye, then 3 or 4 of Buffalo's top defencemen, now Roloson. Worse thing is - Carolina plays a clean game too - they've all just been freak accidents (more or less).

Grrr...there's nobody on that team that I hate. Brind'Amour has a better workout ethic than probably anybody on this board, Doug Weight has always had nothing but good things to say about Edmonton, and Cam Ward stole a couple of goals (like Horcoff's shot 3 seconds left in the 3rd). While there are bad apples in every bunch, the majority of Carolina Hurricane fans are class acts (from the hockey board I visit) - and I hope hockey gets more popular there.

I'm obviously disappointed Roli is out, but if anything, it should make the game more interesting (like more heart attacks whenever Carolina shoots).

Edmonton never should have lost when they were up 3-0. Maybe this was their wakeup call.

I'll still say Edmonton in 6.:bb3:

As much as I would love to see the cup go to Edmontona after all the BS they have had to deal with the past 15 years, I really want Rod Brindamour to finally win a cup.

5 unanswered goals is obsurd. I have a feeling the 'canes will lose on friday though.

Totally absurd and disappointing. :( But I can 100% guarantee that the 'canes will NOT lose on Friday...

whaddayya mean you can gaurantee that ??
The oil almost had 'em in game 1 and they can do it again, they spent half the game in the penalty box and had a couple of unlucky bounces, plus Cam is playing great in net but there'll be some that are screened, and there'll be lucky bounces for the Oilers too . . . I'm keepin the faith

I should also that that I can 100% guarantee that the Oilers will NOT lose on Friday either...

I say that with confidence because the game doesn't start until Saturday.:afro:

As for Saturday - I win with my team, and I go down with my team. It's not over until someone hoists the cup over their head. Until then, I'm cheering the Oilers on!

Although it looks like my good ol Pimp'n felt leapord hat that I put on at the start of our 7 game win streak may be wearing out. I put on a straw cowboy hat last game...bad move. Alright, so that either leaves my Oiler headband or I'm going commando! (I get a little superstitious during the playoffs)...

going commando? dude TMI!
edmontons not dead yet
best of luck

Oilers are going to come back strong.... they had so many bad bounces last game and with the crowd behind them at Rexall Place, it is going to be a wicked game on Saturday night. Go Oilers!!

I hope the Oilers come back, but with no good goalie and so far poor performance in the last 2 games, it seems like a long shot.

They're playing like the 8th place team they once were :(

The last loss to me was expected after giving away a game and losing a goalie. i predicted 5-1 and was sad to be almost right. Tonight i have no prediction just a general hope then can buckle down and make it happen tonight. OILERS do it.
