I've been meaning to sign up for a while.. finally got around to it.
I'm in my mid 20's, 5'10" and have been lifting consistently for 15 months. I started out at 145#, 2 months later in October I got up to 165#. Diet was ****- eat once to twice/day, no water only Mtn Dew or milk, no fruits/vegetables, about 10 hamburgers/week among an almost all fast food diet. Guess I have good genes because I was eating that way since high school and was always super thin. That and I ride my bicycle (hence my name, Venge) anywhere from 40-60 miles every weekend when it's not raining.
New year's 2012, I made a resolution to eat better for the sake of gaining weight since I wasn't able to gain anything since I hit 165#. Between January and Late February, I was at 169# or so. In April I got a new gym partner that was serious about lifting.. my workouts are much less intense than what his are. Only a few days later I started on a PH. I did my best on the dieting and water intake and got up to a little over 180#. I took A-HD and milk thistle with 'solid' for the PCT and all went well. After the PCT, we changed the workout to 'lose bodyfat' mode. I got down to about 172#. My partner had to stop for a month because of work. In that time, my strength went down because I didn't push myself hard enough I assume.
Since then,my gym partner returned, I rode my bike more, kept eating healthy and often (3-5 times/day) and drank plenty of water. Last August, I tried a new PH with the company's recommended PCT.. not what I was hoping for -______-
But I finished the PCT and all is well. I got up to 187# and am down to 179# now but not all of the lost weight is from the common loss after a cycle- I had a few major rides during which I would lose at least 3-4#.. one ride I lost 8# because it was 110mi through some mountains. I'd gain some of that weight back, but never all of it. The good news is that my strength is not down but my appetite.. but just as expected.
I'm starting to run now. I have shin splint troubles but I assume it'll get better. I'm running because runners are beasts when riding and there's a few mountains in my area I'd like to try. I know it'll kill my weight gain, but I'm fine with that. If somehow I could work up to running 15-20 miles per week next year while maintaining +180#, that'd be all I could hope for but from what I read, it's very unlikely in only a year's time considering where I currently am.
Some time in the late spring, I'll probably go on another PH and PCT. I'll choose based off of what I read here.
