new meet experience

Did another meet today. Number 11 that I have attended. I did something different this one though. I sat on the other side of the table, I judged. It was muuuuch harder than I thought.

Especially squat. For those that think they can tell from a video if it is high or low, it's not so easy. I sat right next to a group of people and I watched them again and again and I couldn't tell sometimes. Some people are so fast, or fat (yep it makes a difference), lran over so far that the plates get in the way, etc, that it is really hard to tell sometimes.

Bench and dead were pretty easy and straight forward compared to the squat but even they have nuances. It sucks to red light someone when they make the lift but they left the thumb strap on, or they get the bench and their heel lifts off the ground, or they didn't out the straps up on their singlet. As a competitor I want to everyone what they are doing wrong but as a judge I have so much to pay attention to that I can't get to everyone and tell them everything. So for all the judges out there we apologize. We are not trying to be dicks. We are human and we are trying.

I have a feeling I am going to be much more appreciative in the future towards judges too.
