From what I've found, the research shows mixed results for straight ATP's efficacy/bio-availability. ElevATP on the other hand seems to have consistently promising data on its ability to elicit increased ATP levels. Here's just one: Invalid Link Removed
I liken it to a less-dramatic version of "Citrulline vs Arginine" in that a precursor seems to be more effective due to digestive breakdown limitations.
