napalm: 12 weeks to WPC Worlds...ya, really...

first squat: i was scared fcking shytless at this point. i'd been freaking out for the 24 hours prior and just wanted to get this shyt over with. alex was bitching at me because i went too fast and didn't give him a chance to do his job, he was right. this was 160 kg, did it a million times but i thought the depth was questionable. the word going around was you better bury your first, cause if you don't, you ain't gonna get a call on your 2nd or 3rd:

ugh, 2nd squat. i just got plastered on this one. there was no reason for me to miss this. the 700-900 lb squatters said my eccentric was waaaaay too slow and i was reaching for depth. they were right.

never had a chance...

and now the bad one. everyone said my eccentric was better on this one. i remember after my 2nd, yelling to no one in particular off the stage to the right: 'my fcking achilles hurts!!!'

it's obv where it went out on me about 8 inches up.

this cemented the rest of my day:

first bench, 107.5 kg.

at this point the only thought in my mind was 'oh fck, i got a lot of ground to make up cause my squat sucked.' wasn't really thinking about my achilles at this point.

easy...

2nd bench, 115 kg. this was when i nothiced i really had a problem. tried some leg drive but no bueno.

this was another wt i did a million times in training

3rd bench, i really thought i'd get this with no leg drive. i had none and it's obv about 6 inches off the chest it was going nowhere:

1st dl, i really had trouble getting down and you can see all my weight is on my left side. i got one red light for dropping it:

Invalid Link Removed

2nd dl, this was the weight that my legs were shaking uncontrollably a couple weeks ago. it went up easy, but again, all my weight is on my left side:

Invalid Link Removed

3rd dl, just fcking robbed. the fat fcking czech judge in the front and the russian on the left side gave me red lights. i got a white light from a ukranian judge on the right. i showed the film to the czech and the russian (who i ended up buying beers for later, wtf?) and they said i rolled 'one shoulder.'

i don't even know if that's physically possible, all 3 of these as.sholes knew i was on one leg...

the end...

And on that day, no shoulder was rolled

I think my shoulder rehab is going to consist of getting a bench shirt and going to Chicago to train at Byron's gym once a month to learn how to use it...

WooWooooo! Yeah buddy! Knowing how much you like pain, you'd be all over that single ply stuff! It's either get cut by single ply, or feel like somebody parked a truck on your chest with multi-ply. Either one is fun as hell.

interested, how much did herder weigh when he bought it?

what brand?

It's an Inzer Rage. There's two better, the Rage X and the Phenom. I weighed 235 when I bought it, it was 3 sizes too small, though. It's a size 44, so it's good for a chest measurement of ~42, give or take. It's a nice shirt to start with, not as painful as the ancient Blast shirts, good bit of carryover, very forgiving groove, so it's not gonna take you a year to learn how to use it.

EDIT this is incorrect, i just sucked...
False. You have a partially torn Achilles and a fcuked up soleus. Far from sucky. An excuse is just that, but you had a REASON. Most people would have caught the next thing smokin back home after that third squat but you stuck it out and finished. Stop being self-deprecating, heal up and go kick some more ass. You've inspired more than one person here, I'm sure of it.

broseph, i've heard both sides of the story: start w single ply or go right to double ply...

<---confoosed

Multi-ply would take far longer to learn, as the groove is much different from a single ply, you have to go where the shirt says, not where you say. Also the carryover is often so great, that it takes a long time of working to boards to get yourself able to handle a weight that touches.

In single ply, you have a little more leeway. The groove is a little more forgiving (usually, depends on the shirt) and the carryover isn't so great that you won't be able to touch for eons. If you're gonna go shirted, it's time to row, row, row, tricep, tricep, tricep, row, tricep, and mobilize the thoracic so you don't have to bring the bar so damn far.

<---chest = 44 and today i was 196

the question becomes, is it better to learn on a single ply?

again, i've heard both sides of the story, but everyone says it has to fit...

I got all the videos up in the subscription feed.

Will watch when I do my night time mobility work

x a billion.

Well put.

Well, I got a 65lb carry over in an untrained single ply shirt, first time I wore it

Ryan says multi
Nomz says single
And I have no idea.

Herder made good points. If you're gonna compete against multiply masters though...then I'd go multi.

I can send you my single ply suit if you just want to try and get a feel for how bad it sucks.

It DOES have to fit. I've had two that don't, very frustrating. I bought one shirt new, but that was a Blast, which is 1983 technology and doesn't even count as a shirt. It's got 20lbs of carryover good for ONE session, and then it's stretched out. There's no rule that I'm aware of that says you can't use a single ply piece of equipment in multi-ply competition.

If you plan on going multi-ply, just go to multi-ply. It's not like you can learn shirted benching in one shirt and then work to another shirt, you have to learn EACH shirt, which is a real bitch.

We really can't be having an equipment discussion without Rodja as it's just a whole lot of spitballin.

Also, your squat style is frickin tailor-made for multi-ply. Just sayin.

Go straight to multiply if you're going to go the gear route. Raw to multiply is slightly different; raw/singleply to multiply is very different. You have to relearn not only the grooves and technique, but also your setup.

txs dave, it's not so much about self deprecating as i wanted to beat jim!!!

(obv just kidding jim, you do things that my body no comprende)

when you train for a number - that you have some wiggle room built in to, it's a little disappointing.

tbh, if i would have got any leg drive on my third bench and didn't get robbed on my 3rd dl, i woulda been a happy mofo.

those 2 things were semi within my control

<----own worst critic...

You suffered a major setback by not beating him this time out, now he's gonna jump way ahead. BUUUUUT getting into gear before him will definitely level the playing field what with his youth gains!

more than one person who has a lot more knowledge than me in these things said exactly this.

byron said he has shirts of diff sizes at his gym. i WILL be going there once a month to learn at least the bench shirt.

i think the name of his gym is jakked hardcore just outside of chicago.

byron and a guy that's in their crew were handling tony chiraco (sp?) a 900 lb squatter who was there...

That's the ****. Looked like it was a good time.

Two strong mofos right there. There are too many woman in this sport stronger than me haha

Just found this on my phone. Look at the show Ano puts on, too bad he got 3 red lights

803

Fcking awesome...

I dont ****ing understand this WPC. Lock out knees with bar in hand and hold the position = 3 white lights. How did this Ano get red lighted, and how does one get red lighted for "rolling only one shoulder?" LOL

Better make sure to read the rulebook next time before competing. They might red light you on the bench press for not locking out with your left pinky up in the air.

lol toro, this is what i'm dealing with.

i hate my neighborhood, i just went out to lock my car and like 6 gunshots a few blocks away.

boo housing market...

It's called a clicker man. That way you don't have to go out to lock your car. Welcome to the future buck Rogers
