My mother runned into an endocrinologist today...

He told her that I should supplement with magnesium, vitamin d3, that I should lift weights 3 days a week and do cardio on 3 different days. I think he also told her take some natural test boosters and to not stress about it because the body makes cortisol when stressed (which I already knew), which must be one of the most useless things I've heard.
The real kicker here is that when they talked about my test levels he told her that they that they consider 2,5 normal and from 3,83 that I'm at I could only get up to 5.
Considering that I am at 383ng/dl I'm pretty sure he messed up free test with total test

Why is an endo talking to your mom about your information. Pretty sure thats a big violation of HIPAA

"Runned"? What is it lately with poor spelling in titles of threads. Take a moment, you have time to compose your thoughts and spell check.

Your just jealous that your mother hasn't "runned" into any endo's lately!

Is there a question in that mess? Funny how easily your mom puts you blast with strangers. You still breast feeding young man?

Not just spelling, some of the threads lately have been just plain entertaining. And DemntedCowboy, privacy concerns aren't an issue when you're a minor. Which I'm pretty sure OP is. Which would explain the "runned into" part.

Too be entireley honest, the spelling on this entyre forum is pretty atroceous sometimes. This generation has gone too hell in an hand basket.

Having optimal vitamin and mineral levels, and especially D3, zinc, magnesium, B's, can help with optimizing testosterone levels. Of course, regular weight lifting and general exercise is helpful as well; That's general but solid advice.

Eating a healthy, balanced diet with plenty of good fats is also beneficial. For your cardio, aim for more HIIT over LISS - the former (HIIT) has been shown to be much more beneficial in boosting Testosterone. Some studies show LISS cardio can actually lower Testosterone levels.

And yes, chronic stress can lead to elevated cortisol, which can lead to increased fat storage and lower Testosterone levels.

Every time I go back to my construction job I can feel the effects of increased testosterone. I lift heavy shiit all day while getting fried by the sun. This increases my libido, aggression, and well-being a good amount. The fact that I’m essentially exercising all day is an important part of the equation but I always give more credit to the 8+ hours of direct sunlight. Also, with the exception of beer, I keep my diet 90 percent clean.

I also have a theory that there’s a hormonal response when men enter certain environments, especially macho or semi-dangerous ones. For example, I believe just being in prison or the military, or on a hardened construction crew, will raise your testosterone. It’s like a survival response to the hostile environment. I know environmental factors are for a fact capable of increasing testosterone. Seeing a beautiful woman increases testosterone or seeing your favorite sports team win will also do it. This is temporary of course and not a solution to someone having low T. I just felt like sharing these thoughts.

So, what are you trying to say?

Between miners and google translate it has been entertaining.

This was my first thought. Also what doctor stops a mom to talk to her about this type of stuff.

There is a direct correlation between sunlight --> thyroid levels -->Testosterone levels. Actually, some men who suffer from low T levels (and low thyroid function) often show improved TT numbers when they add supplemental T3/T4. Of course, all that d3 is great, too. Also interesting is how proper sleep --> early morning sunlight --> circadian rhythm --> melatonin all play a role in optimized hormone levels.

There is also a direct correlation between environmental factors and hormone levels, you're correct. The body will always adapt to the stressors it is forced to deal with. One's lifestyle is so very important to endocrine health - exercise, flight or fight, depression, food, your daily activities all play an important role in healthy functionality. If you're a healthy active man who spends his day in the sun doing physical activity and then you're forced to work inside, during the night, and thus sleeping during the day, I bet you'd see substantial changes in endocrine markers. You'd for sure feel it, too!

Even factors such as body language and posture play a role in hormone/enzyme levels. Again, the body adapts to the stressor.

Say five guys meet for the first time and they’re standing in a circle introducing each other. They obviously all have varying appearances and their attributes display aspects of who they are, including how dominant they are. Whether consciously or unconsciously, they are sizing each other up in multiple ways, not just physically, but other factors play into this, like intelligence, or their profession/role in society. Pretty quickly these guys all shift their stances to fit the mold of where they rank among the other men. The more dominant men strike dominant poses and vice versa. Now they all experiences hormonal shifts. Some men see their testosterone go up, while some see theirs go down. This raises some interesting questions.

Is there a finite amount of testosterone available within a social group? Is it a resource similar to, let’s say, money, where one man makes more, but as a result, another man lost some of his? What happens if men within a social group all views themselves as equals, do they all experience a relatively stable testosterone level when they’re together, because there are no power displays being made? These questions are probably pseudoscientific but it’s a brain teaser for me. It just seems so strange that testosterone is essentially traded among men. Also do these testosterone shifts always keep men within the normal range? For example, say I have a test level of 950 and I’m having a business meeting with an underling who already has a test level that’s pretty low, like 350. Could I possibly see mine temporarily spiked above the normal range? Or maybe this only effects free test. I read the study and if I remember correctly they measure free test only. But even then, can you have above the normal range of free test just through these temporary encounters? Anyway, just some thoughts.

Lol. Testosterone among members of a group is not a zero sum game if that’s what you’re asking.

I’m aware these questions are pseudoscience and pretty much just mental masturbation. But that’s often how legitimate scientific theories start. And there is some kind of strange hormonal interactions going on between members of a group. I’m sure you’ve heard about girls’ menstral cycles linking up to the same schedule if they spend a lot of time together. That’s insane to me but it’s true. Now we know that body language between you and another man could decrease or increase your testosterone. So this to me is a thing that needs to be studied deeper. Anyway, it’s entertaining topic and I’m glad Toren posted that study because it really got my brain juices flowing.

But then wouldn't the effect of someone on gear entering a group essentially be instant gyno then for the others then?..

Lol. So if someone with low-T walks into a room full of professional bodybuilders on-cycle, will his low-T be cured, or will the bodybuilders further drain his testosterone?

I take it you don’t believe the study or didn’t read it, muscleupcrohn and D3x but I’m the type of guy who believes the scientists who’ve studied the way subtle changes in your environment effect the fluctuations of your hormones.

Link isn’t working on my phone, but environmental factors influencing testosterone and hormone levels in no way suggests that testosterone is a zero sum game. There’s a HUGE logical leap there my friend. Huge.

I don’t believe it’s actually a zero sum game either. That question wasn’t literal, I’m not saying there’s an exact exchange of testosterone but does it work in a fashion that is a little similar to that. You can’t have a dominant person in an argument without their being an inferior person to dominate and if one man takes on the dominant position, he experienced a testosterone spike, while the guy who takes the inferior position sees his testosterone dip. So I don’t believe this is an actual exchange or anything but it raises a lot of questions for me. I know another man can’t take your testosterone all the way to zero just by crossing his arms and staring at you intensely ha. I took those questions to their logical extreme in that first post that you attacked, but I don’t believe them myself, it was just meant to get the wheels turning. I thought maybe some people on here would share my excitement about the topic but I guess it’s better suited elsewhere.

Ok. But I say you can have two dominant alphas in a conversation/debate, but it may devolve into a fight haha. Have you seen some debates? Or some arguments? Also, I mean, look at something like the old-school Gold’s Gym when Arnold and all the old-time greats trained together. They all got to feed off each other, but no one suffered, so it’s more like they built off each other. It’s the opposite of a zero sum game; everyone improved. The drive to compete and keep up was the major factor IMO, and that promoted an overall environment that was conducive to building muscle and having good workouts. That’s the environment benefiting people, but I’d wager more of that was just them being motivated and competing bringing out the best in them than changes in testosterone, even though they were all already on steroids haha.

TBH i got slightly exited, but I decided against posting...

I agree. This is totally possible and likely what happened. Although who knows what’s going on with Lou Ferrigno when Arnold is mind f*cking him in the warm up room at Mr. Olympia in Pumping Iron. Also, I have know idea how steroids effect all this since they should technically keep your hormones at an artificially semi-consistent rate.

See, I was just trying to generate a little conversation like this one when I asked those original questions. The questions weren’t concrete beliefs I have or anything. They were just based on that study that deals with how our social interactions effect our hormones.

Great, I ask a couple weird questions on here and now I’m no better then the kid whose mom runned into the endocrinologist.

I definitely wasn't attacking it. Sorry if you took it that way. Kinda took your paraphrasing and continued where my thoughts picked up on hypotheticals here. Granted my comment was on the far end of that spectrum tho..

I wouldnt worry about it muscleupcrohn is always roaming around on here looking for someone he can pop in and be the dominant alpha against looking for those testosterone spikes to up his keyboard warrior game. Hes got some smarts but imo all of that means nothing when you're always treating other people like they're idiots. God that sh1t pisses me off

Yeah that’s a lame way to live.

Maybe you miss it, but I also give plenty of advice, suggestions, and information on ingredients/studies as well. I can only go based on what I read from posts. After Thor explained what he meant, I had some conversation with him. How should I have known he was being intentionally hyperbolic at the time? No hard feelings Thor.

By reading his posts it was obvious. Maybe you missed it. Its hard to take advice when you give it the way you do most of the time. Just sayin
