The Pressures of getting/staying Fit

Whether it's your first time or tenth time starting to workout, IT NEVER GETS EASIER! You're not alone though! After two years of educated lifting and not just throwing around weight and eating everything under the sun, it's still hard to get to the gym everyday. Like most of you know, it's easy to say “i'll start next week”, and not start next week. But when you finally get in the gym or outside to start running, you have the fire! The fire that keeps you motivated everyday to push harder. As strong as that fire is though, isn't it odd how the flame is always snuffed out so easy, and all those hours of blood sweat and tears are for nothing. Then it gets hard again, you have to start over now.

But let's discuss why it was so easy to stop working out in the first place.
I was having a conversation with a friend the other day and she said she doesn't wanna look like the typical noob that doesn't know what she is doing. I STILL FEEL THAT WAY! Even after all the advice i've given, lifters i've spotted, and weight i've lifted, i'm still nervous about looking like i don't know what i'm doing. Day after day of feeling like this can definitely be diminishing in the long run. So how can you get over this feeling, how can you keep the fire burning bright? Ask for help! There are so many experienced lifters around your gym that are seeping with knowledge and nobody utilizes them. Are you not asking because you're embarrassed or is your pride keeping you from asking? **** THAT! Every Time someone approaches me and asks for help, i'm more than happy to help where i can. Those experienced lifter arent going to come over to you and critique your form, they aren't gonna stop what they're doing just to help you if you don't ask for it, because they are there for a purpose to. But it feels good to help with another's goals, to help get past that plateau. For that reason alone, you will never be denied help when you ask for it. You are their for the same reason everybody else is, to better yourself.

What about not seeing those results right away? Is that why you stopped going to the gym or being active? Because after the hardest month of your life you weren't looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger or Katy Hearn? That sure sounds like enough to snuff the flame that kept you going back for a month straight. But what about the 5 pounds you lost? Chances are you probably lost more than 5 pounds and gained muscle. It's completely understandable for an unexperienced lifter to not see the results. But looking like your inspirations isn't going to happen over a short period of time, it takes years to look like that! Lookin at my pictures from 2+ years ago i can see a vast difference in my physique, of course anybody will see a vast difference after 2 years though! So don't be discouraged when you don't see those 30 day abs. Take a picture, set it away and get back to the grindstone. Three months later when you see the difference i guarantee you'll feel like posting that transformation tuesday pic on your social media page. Even on the days when i don't feel like i'm making progress, i look back on those pictures and see that my efforts weren't wasted. Honestly i'd compare it to pouring gas on the flame, there is nothing like being your own motivation and inspiration.

False Promises! Do not depend on the supplement companies! Talk about a tidal wave that will wreck your motivation and keep you sedentary for the longest time! When that miracle pill pops up and says you'll burn fat while you sleep, while you walk the dog, and while you brush your teeth. Who wouldn't want to swipe that card and take advantage of that opportunity?! I have and i still do, but here is what you need to understand. When they tested that fat melting pill, they were testing on individuals with a set regimen and diet. Notice how they always say, results may vary? That's because they know you have to be active and eat healthy to see the legit results! Well anyways after you've spent a couple hundred on fat burners and creatine it's time for you start hittin it really hard in the gym! If you were anything like me when i first started lifting then you ate everything under the sun to put on size, or you didn't eat enough because you want to be skinny and fit. A surefire way to snuff out that flame is not seeing the results you were promised. You need to eat healthier, stop eating fast food, stop with pop and alcohol and the ice cream. Stop making excuses to eat like crap. Just because you ran 4 miles last night doesn't mean you're alright to get “turnt up” everyday this weekend. When i started educating myself about my nutrition is when i truly noticed a change in myself. I found more motivation in everything i ate, i knew what i was putting in my body and i feel better every day for it. And those damn fat burners work a whole lot better when you are eating healthier. Recognize that it is only up to you to get where you want, not a pill.

Lastly but most importantly, your goals. If your only goal is to get big AF then i'm sorry but it's gonna take you a lot longer than you think to get there. Which is another main reason why it's so easy to quit being active. Have smaller goals, have multiple goals. Have month long goals that you can keep better track of. If you're always in the gym but you can never bench 315 and it's been that way for 6 months now, drop the number! Try to hit 305 first, that confidence boost from reaching 305 will do you wonders! Now you can make your goal 315 and by the end of the month i bet you crush that goal and are running around town like a crossfitter telling every person you see you've reached one of the coveted milestones in the gym. Be a better you, don't listen to the haters, because they're only hatin because they're jealous of your progress and they're too weak to put in the time and effort. You owe it to yourself to at least try, you'll never know how great you can be until you do. I believe fit should be the new average, and then we push harder, never settling for mediocrity.
