Melatonin having a strong impact on the HPTA is well known, e.g. reducing test. My point is that a melatonin agonist sure beats benzos 'cause even if the HPTA went astray it'll straighten itself out by quiting the script. If a benzo script went wrong ...

Mela. agonist worked well for zebra fish (improved their memory), whilst they hated melatonin straight (they couldn't remember a thing). :thinking: Paper in Science and is really useful to know if I ever want to restock zebra fish. Although if I ever started starting feeding zebra fish Ramelteon I'd probably need a few scripts myself ... for very early onset dementia.. I think its a pointless study really, perhaps the investigators should consider my last sentence more carefully.

X-Dreams (IBE) is well worth a shout. Cool concept that bromomelatonin simulates the sleep structure of a benzo without the problems that benzos cause.

Ramelteon= Rozerem approved in 2005 and I would not touch it with a 10 foot pole due to this.

Only problem was and I just speak for me here. Mela did not do a darn thing. I agree benzos are not a great option for sleep but Dalmane is a fairly good benzo used for sleeping. Ambien is not a benzo and alot less addictive than a benzo.

There are a ton of suggestions in this thread about it. I would do some research on them and talk to your dad and his doctor about this.

anyway i say he tries some benadryl that stuff knocks me out just tell him to take it 2 hours before going to sleep see if it helps but make sure its the one with 25 mg of dihydroclhoride (something like that) take 2 before bed and he's good
