I saw a commerical today that on Thursday (1-12-06) at 10pm, MTV will be airing the latest installment in their True Life series.

Based on the previews alone, I am sure it will put more negative light on steroids considering one of the still frames they showed in the 30 second preview was a gravestone of some dude (marked 1978-2002). I am sure they will blame this solely on juice to boot.

Notice you will NEVER see a "True Life: I am a chain smoker and don't exercise whatsoever".

yeah i saw the same commercial. Same old ****, media putting a negative spin on it. The least they could have done was find some big boys to show the true potential of juice. The dudes i saw in the preview are about as big as i was when i started to get hair on my nuts.

The last thing I want is more people on steroids looking bigger/stronger/faster than me. Im glad they are showing little dudes on juice :)

HAHAHA that's the first thing that went through my head was holy s***, these dudes aren't even all that big!

Better yet - the one dude's quote was "I can go from being the average joe to looking like zeus"...to which i muttered, "umm no, ronnie coleman looks like zeus" sorry buddy...

dang missed it..wonder if they'll be playing it again.. do you know if it was a new one or an old one?

It says it is on 1/12 @ 10pm. It hasn;t been shown yet.

I want to watch it, but I don't want my wife to be misinformed. I already made the mistake of watching the Super-Size ME guy's HRT show. We'll see.

Beowulf, I am in the same boat. I think what's gonna happen is that I am gonna watch it first and then if it's any good (aka realistic) then I might try to catch a rerun with the woman. Because as of right now she approves of everything I do, but she thinks that creatine is dangerous for you, and that fish oil is a scam. :wtf:

Haha, oh well...some people just will never get it.

I too feel the same way, however, DVR is your friend...

I'm just watching this thing for entertainment purposes. I know its gonna be mostly bullshit and scare tactics. But a word to the wise gents...you might want to make sure your lady friends avoid watching this thing (assuming they know your dirty little chemical secret). I already told my girl about the previews with the headstone and she flipped a ****.

yea, the advertisement came on for the show, I want to watch just to see what they say, and how much info is inaccurate. The wife seen the preview of the show and told me I was not using anymore of that ****.

I wish that for once in my life I could see an objective, accurate representation of a controversial subject. Do I think that steroids are the devil...of course not, but I do think that they have negative side effects. I just wish that they would interview someone with knowledge and a non-biased point of view to show the positive aspects of RESPONSIBLE steroid usage. Most people would **** themsleves if they knew how prevalent AAS/Gh are in Hollywood. Although i have not, at this point, used steroids personally, I support anyones decision to start using them, but I wish that people would research ANY substance that they choose to put into their body. My mom is so anti-steroid that it sickens me, but I realize that she, like 99% of the US, have been conditioned by the media to hate steroids and believe that steroids are the worst possible thing any person can try. If I had a child and the only "vice" that he/she had was responsibly using steroids, then I would be very happy with the decisions that he/she has made in life.

Usually Im in bed at that time , but I will stay up to watch this crap. Even though it will be the same , about it being bad and that it will kill you. Same old story.

Oddly enough, the True Life series prides themselves on being really "true". I doubt this will be another scare tactic. However - I think it will unintentionally come off as one.

Another interesting guess I am making is that we will see several different roid users in various stages in their lives. This series always has 3 different people/stories per 1 hour episode and they track each individual person in real time and give fairly "real" documentary on the subject. So my guess will be they try to cover the whole spectrum.

My picks:
Person 1 - newbie who loves pinning himself and can finally squat more than the girls on the softball team
Person 2 - veteran lifter and juicer who has everything going for him
Person 3 - 6' under, which of course will miraculously be tracked to steroid use only. (even if the dude ends up being a coke addict i am sure everyone will blame roids)

Whatever they do end up airing I can promise it will cover the entire spectrum of roid use, which could make for a really interesting episode.

Best friend at that. Back to the subject at hand, this is nothing more but the media portraying steroids as drugs that kill people at a young age. Would be nice if they interviewed the guy who was on Bryant Gumble steroid episode.

Dont want to be capton obvious, but did you expect mtv to put out unbiast news in the first place?

Nah, he probably only worked bench and biceps.

MTV CANNOT tell the truth with this particular episode. They simply are not capable of it. In fact, moreso than any media station and here's why:

MTV is watched primarily by teenagers. If they show the ACTUAL side effects of steroids and portray them in their real light, how they are used by responsible adults, etc. then they will appear to be nearly harmless. The thing is, for teenagers they are far from harmless. So a teenager would see this and think he can take them, as much as he wants, and he'll suffer no ill effects. When these kids **** themselves up, the parents will sue MTV.

Additionally, if they were to show steroids as anything less than satan, they'll be completely SLAMMED by angry parents who watched it. There would be boycotts and protests against them.

So you see, MTV can't show them in a positive or unbiased light. It is in their best interest to make them look as vile as possible.

MTV and Viacom are as mainstream as mainstream gets. Remember young impressionable minds are watching. The mainstream view is that steroids are bad. So for MTV to maximize their return on advertizing dollars.( they are publicly held ) they have to stay the course. It is just good buisness. There are condoms, tampons, zit creams and the such that need to be sold to young america. Rock the Vote! Stay in school!... and absolutely do not use MTV as your sole source for quality information on anything!

MTV's "True Life: I'm on steroids"

If you were considered to be part of MTV's "True Life: I'm on steroids" will you do it? Money set aside.

imagine how that kid is gonna feel and be seen at the gym, he's gonna be an outcast and he'll prolly get busted for posession lol. It should be good to watch tho.

I jus hope they don't bash the hell out of aas like the rest of the world does, showin some kid doin a 52 week cycle or something to show improper use

I was on an MTV dating show. Luckily I won $1000 but besides that it was total bullshit.

what were you on roomraiders or next, wait, I dont watch mtv.:run: That channel is for loosers!!!

There is no way you could get me to go on there for that. The chances of the diareha mouth running in the little town I live in. Busted the next morning for sure. Good thing I dont mess with Gear!!!

9 times out of 10 everybody that sees one of us out in the real world assumes we are on some kinda gear anyway so ya I would do it and try to shed some light on the positive aspects that its has had on me.

Point in case: Instead of 4 nights in a bar drunk every week its 4 nights in a gym building a stronger me!!!!

i'd rather ppl suspect that i'm on than know for sure. you know damn well it'll come back to your family. that'll be a whole 'nother headache.
mom "he's on dem steroids, they cause cancer."

once your mom finds out, everyone knows. 3 ways to communicate with the outside world: telephone, telegram, telewoman.

Def would not do it, alienation would be too crazy I already have enough problems, as working out is my safe haven, I dont need fat asses who workout day in and day out with no change in diet asking me how me grams of test i shoot, when i am trying to get that self fulfilling pump!!! Not to mention my mom calls me every weekend asking if I am juicing because i flipped about the anti steroid psa's !!!

I was on a show called "Wanna Come In". I was single at the time so it sounded like great fun, IE going on a date with a hot chick. well I did but everything was so disgustingly scripted that it was just lame. I still watch MTV to disgust and humor myself. It is amazing how horrible it has gotten. They don't even show boobs and ass like they used to.

Saw an ad for it while I was at the gym. The guy I saw was like 170lbs with 15inch arms. He didn't even look like he worked out. I mean come'on! If the guy look like Beelz or something then I would be like "Yeah, cool" but this little pecker...shiiit.

I would if two things worked out and they asked me at the right time:

1) Be on roids at the time, as currently they're not right for me. I had some BP issues last year at my physical and even though everything was fine this year it leads to reason two...

2) Stll way too out of shape to contemplate using them, and even were I in shape I'm not sure being bigger is necessarily my goal right now. Losing fat yes. Maintaining muscle, yes. And I know roids can be used for those purposes but I'm still at the point where I could and should accomplish these goals through diet and exercise alone.

Otherwise, hell yes. **** the script if they have one, I'd tell the truth. I'd invite them into my house and show them some studies on the subject, etc. Call them out for being idiots for supporting the idea of locking people up for using certain substances they don't like.

Queer Gear from the Straight Steer, or fina as I like to call it.

Perhaps they can remodel your home gym if you've got one?

actually what they usually do is show pple who are on steroids and how it has helped or affected them and then the negative side to setroids...the show is fairly balanced..i remember a while back they emailed me from a different message board and wanted me to be on the show, but i told them i've done PHs and not steroids

I remember reading a thread about this on t-nation this summer, a guy was trying to recruit someone for the show. Everyone was like get the eff out, you're just gonna misrepresent us. He said he wouldn't but it looks like he lied.

i just saw a commercial for it.

most of what the kid said was he was addicted to steroids and he couldn't stop his problem.

You'll have to talk to my people, they handle that sort of thing. I would be interested if the catering was done right. I'll need a good personal assistant ( under 25, female ). I would prefer to be drunk for the actual tapings..if this is do able on your end I may wave my fee, but you'll have to sign off on a confidetiality clause and I do reserve final cut.

His name is Jose Canseco.... he was demonized by the media and ignored; until a lot of information got out and now they are talking to him again (because he was right).

But they won't let him really present his piece; and he possibly might not have the brains to really pull something like that off.

He was on Real Time with Maher a while ago. Maher didn't let him get too into the subject. But, hearing his quotes from there and based on how I've seen him carry himself in other interviews, I think he's of reasonable intelligence and would probably do a good job.

But, bottom line is even if he got an hour on a major network, ran a show, confronted a bunch of prominent doctors with evidence and got them to back off the steroids are the devil bandwagon, presented every single known study on the subject and explained it in context, people would still believe whatever they want to believe. Facts do not matter to most people is the sad, basic truth. They make up their mind and then justify their preconceived notions. Rarely do people look first and judge second.

Does mtv have full broadcasts of their tv shows online, I found the preview and well I don't have a satellite up here in Canada.
While on the topic on this does any one recall seeing a tv show that showed about 10 people in a research study on steroids it was a four part series. Under the watch of doctors, trainers, and nutritionists in a bootcamp like setting. They showed what steroids did without bias on the subject. Can't remember the name of it but it was really interesting. I only got to see the first part so that sucks. It would of been on a year or so ago.
thanks.

Jesues titty fucking christ after they said he shot himself b/c of steroid withdrawn meaing that roids are some kind of fucking drung ont he level with heiron/coke is fucking retarded. Not to mention out of the three people using roids on the show the first guy from FL and the fighter were under pretyt close watch from traininers. The third gay guy just brought shame to roid users. What a tool, he could have acheived all those thing with agood clean diet. Instead of smoeking how about u spend money on a dieitian... like Bobo...

...jackass
