most supplements are garbage

Saying most supplements are garbage is a bit strong.

I think one of the reasons people have this view is in relation to marketing strategies. It is true that a lot of products do not live up to the hype they create.

You only have to search for certain herbs and ingredients on pubmed to know there are legitimate properties behind a lot of them. Studying a single factor doesn't necessarily translate into real world results i.e., X ingredient lowers Y hormone by Z% and then it is in a product advertising hypertrophy and fat loss based off that alone.

It is more the advertising side of it I have issues with, not the ingredients themselves necessarily.

I think what Coors is trying to say is the most supplements don't work as advertised. He's right. Most are overhyped and underdosed. You would think that this sensationalizing would eventually effect sales but USP, probably the worst in the industry, keeps plugging along. However, almost all are guilty to some extent. I personally like PES and DS because they don't excessively overhype. Obviously they have to tout their wares by putting there best foot froward. But in general they let there products speak for themselves. I used to like PP for this same reason, but they have changed.

I agree as well.
The reps for some companies are insufferable(N2Bull****Me). They have about ruined this place for me. The threads where it is just a bunch of their reps talking about how great the products are and what a fantastic guy the owner is are pretty funny though, it's like some kind of freaky cult.

I really hate the excuse people give for a supplement not working as your diet. I've said this many many times. Example: A person comes on here posting that a certain supplement doesn't work. So they usual people come on a give the excuse that there diet must be crap because the supplement will only work if your diet is great. So this person starts to follow a better diet and gets things under control, and what do you know, they start making gains!. Now how can you tell me its not the diet change than gave him the gains?. People will then tell him/her, "See now the supplement is working because you changed your diet!". I kind of doubt that. To me, it was the diet the whole time. Whatever you ingest, if it works its going to make some kind of difference in your body, doesn't matter how crappy your diet is.

I myself take mostly basic supplements as in creatine, fish oil, krill oil, multi-vitamin. Once in a blue moon I'll try something different, but its really just for fun and not something I'll keep taking. Its just not worth the extra money because the return in investment is very limited compared to my return in investment on groceries.

I agree T-bone!

Excuse those of us who lost our jobs due to this ****ty ass economy and are working multiple sorry ass loser jobs to just make ends meat.. not all of us are as fortunate as you..

good reply, quite a disrespectful thingg to say to someone simply because they are tired of wasting $$$$

I work 2 jobs in Canada and our economy is doing a tad better than America's, am I a loser?

I know a janitor who immigrated from south america to Canada, he's literally the most pleasant, respectful, kind person Ive ever met, and he cleans toilets......to pay for his daughters university. Oh wait he has 2 jobs where he cleans toilets.

I have more respect for him than these shallow golden spoon f c kn prcks who make snarky comments about hard working people who simply work to survive.
