Another study on HMB-CA. This stuff is cheap, available on Amazon, and continues to have good outcomes when tested. Just an FYI for those that don't check SuppV on the daily:

P.S. I disagree that it is unpalatable though... it isn't great tasting, but it isn't bad. Plus, 1g goes down quick with a water chaser :)
 
The more studies I see about HMB-CA, the less I believe HMB-FA actually has an advantage over it.

Haha dude sometimes I feel like you buy tons of supplements, stock them in your house for when there's a government takeover of all things we love and enjoy, and then walk around looking to see what you have and if you can use it for gainzz.

Hahaha no sir! I have planned uses for everything I purchase. The only stuff I stockpile for no reason is the stuff I receive for free! For example I have probably a few more natural test boosters than I'll probably ever need to use. Lol
 
How beneficial do you guys personally think HMB is for strength and/or size. I bought Clear Muscle back when it was hyped but didn't notice much. Admittedly, my training wasn't up to par then and Clear Muscle being priced the way it is, it definitely wasn't worth it. I only noticed some recovery benefits

I got suckered in for a while, but hey, it was far healthier than what I had previously been doing at the time.

same here- honestly, he did provide a lot of good info- Phosphagen when it first came out omg, 20 min after taking that, shizville here i come.
 
I'm going to try HMB again too (CA bulk powder). Should be interesting. I remember the old days when I was a teenager just starting training in the 90s' early 2000s and the "Feels like Deca!" comment. Be interesting to see if there is a positive effect, particularly when leaning up.

The recovery benefits are useful if you train hard enough. It's meant for high frequency/overreaching type training.
 
So now along with taurine, fish oil, curcumin, cocoa, fearn soy....I shall add hmb...At this rate it will be cheaper for me to start my own supp shop in the future. Thanks OP for the info..

i thought i read on here there was a study that hmb actually worked better with less and there isnt a need to superdose

Interesting. I haven't seen that one. I just bought 3 months worth and some evomuse strafe. Going to put some HIGH volume training in and see how it goes.
 
I don't care what the mice study says. HMB is helping me get leaner in the midsection (like a number of clear muscle logs describe) to where I can finally start to see serratus definition.

Question is, assuming HMB does assist in midsection fat loss, WHY does it do that?
 
The ergo study is on humans so its more logical to go with that one since no one here is a rat :D

Ah, the good 'ole days. It was called 'Betagen' or something, right? I was in my mid/late-twenties during the EAS hey day.

Betagen was their second HMB product that combined HMB and Creatine "Phophagen" the original product were 250mg capsules. Dose was 4 caps 3 times/day. I remember getting my first shipment in the mail of HMB. I seem to recall that the very first bottles didn't even have the EAS logo on them. I'll have to see if I still have my old MM2K mags around to jog my memory...

Don't know about anyone else, but I don't Overtrain. And last paragraph:

It should go without saying, though that the overtraining + undereating approach to cutting body fat is a no-go with or without HMB, so in essence, all you need to do is to avoid following this path towards misery and you don't have to care much about the relevance of the results of this study.
 
The suppversity article on hmb and fat loss proposes the possible method. Will have to Google it...
 
HMB increases GH response to exercise is what you're referring to?

Study shows almost 2-fold increase of GH with HMB-FA vs. PL and about 30% increase in IGF-1. Very interesting. Though I wonder if that accounts for all of the fat loss benefits HMB seems to show.

But as with all things hormone related, is it really raising levels naturally to really have an effect, especially since GH by itself takes quite a while to work.
 
True, and related to that study posted earlier, could a 100% increase in GH account for 1% fat loss in 3 days? I would be kind of surprised if even injecting that amount of GH did that
 
So if it increases response to exercise-induced GH release, would you want to dose it pre workout? Or post? Trying to figure out the best way to use what I have.

Thanks brother. Yeah, I'm on cycle right now but diet and supps have definitely been helping me along the way.
