okey dokey..here ya go

one of the most important parts of these poses is how your bottom half is
ie, legs need to be kept flexed thruout, and feet position is important (on side poses, feet should be angled back and legs staggered slightly, so you can flare quad sweep and the back leg & hammy will make the front leg look bigger by pushing out on front leg quad)...

so without seeing that, my critique:

tri pose was best of the lot..things looks beastly, pose looks pretty natural for you
side chest, you need to be turned to side more
double bi front, you need to flare lats more, and do not scrunch down & tighten abs, it will make you look smaller...expand the rib cage

and stop bouncing around! control the movement, be confident, hit poses slowly not fast as hell

you need to make it look easy as riding a bike, like there is no effort

Completely agree with all points.

I've always bounced around a bit when I concentrate...golf, football that kinda stuff so it's a habit I have to break. Also I was a bit stimmed :)

I think my left triceps and right side chest are going to be the mandatory I hit though. My right triceps is distorted by my tattoo.

yeah that'll do it

you may have to do both sides - some formats have all competitors doing quarter turns the same way, and hitting all mandatories from both sides on the side chest/tri poses

Hrrrrm. Thought it was side chest and side triceps of choice. Damn the luck.

On point with all critics, as expected, Snags. Totally 110% agree with the leg comment. When I'm posing, I always focus on starting from the ground and move up. Establish the legs first, flex hard then hit the upper body. 99% of us are always posing the upper body when we are looking in a mirror and tend to forget about tightening the legs. So once the legs are tight and in place, it's easier for us to hit the upper body.

On side tri, I would say it looks good, but remember to twist a bit more so you show some width. I know this may sound a bit stupid, but don't pose to the crowd, pose to the judges. Make sure they ALL see what you have worked so hard for. They are the ones that are giving you points, not the crowd.

On side chest, try not to bend so far away when you start off. It doesn't quite look natural. I actually like to start with my arm straight out and flexed. It shows the judges right off the start how good your arm/shoulder development is. I believe that transitions between poses and the approach to poses are just as important as the pose themselves. The judges are ALWAYS watching you, never show them anything less than you at your best. One thing I hate with some competitors posing is on the callout rounds. A lot of competitors when they are not called out, and are standing in the background will stand limp like they are waiting for a cab. The judges can still see you, so make sure you're still tight and are hitting your front "relaxed" pose.

On your double bi, try playing a bit with your arms when your getting into your pose. It looks like you have your arms posed before you flex your back and rib cage. Stretch your arms out to your side and then curl them into position like you're doing dumbbell curls. Own that stage and show people that you are there. Don't let the guys beside you crowd your space and push you around. And yes, there will be guys out there that will try that, especially if they think that you are the guy to beat

one of my favorite meals nom nom nom
love the jasmine rice & blacks beans combo

(not pictured: a separate plate with 2oz ground turkey + broccoli)
right ~520 cals, 60c/8f ... lower fat for this meal than I usually have, making modifications on the fly to adjust for beef tenderloin/mashed potatoes w/ sour cream I had earlier in the day (good golly was THAT the bomb).. still will finish the day ~3600 cals, 375c/65f

aye - so much on point, I had to quote it to repeat it ;)
yes vast majority of guys struggle to keep those legs tight the whole time, and flexing from the "ground up" is a crucial point to embrace of course (I still struggle with that one myself)
well said my Canadian friend!

Thanks Snags.

It is one of the main things I had a hard time with as well. I always had to keep saying in my head to keep my legs tight.

nice leg you got in your avi! :D dude looks to know what he is doing (no surprise tho with the quality of his posts)...

wow I feel like a king this morning - actually got close to 6.5hrs sleep, most since I started last portion of Phase III..more often than not, I been getting ~4 - 4.5hrs sleep like clockwork for ~4 weeks now .. still sweated like a madman tho, wow my poor pillows

gonna be a fun week, got my son for next 4 days, I'm sure we'll get tennis in 2-3x anyway....he hasn't been playing like he should, so maybe I can hang with him and pull off at least one match LOL..

legs upon rising, a bit crooked but hey I had just woken up cut me some slack

solid shoulders/tris/abs session this morning...was fast-paced and low-rest, some supersets included as I was pressed for time and had to fit everything in under an hour....noticed my stomach is starting to look pretty decent now, getting ripply and shredded, veins peeking out here & there..

tennis later on today, so I figured I better have a hi cal/hi carb day since I'm due anyway and feeling so damn lean -- goal today will be for ~4400-4500 cals and in the neighborhood of 500g carbs; already sitting on ~225g carbs in first three meals of day (all surrounding training ie breakfast/postWO shake/postWO meal)

random plug for all these Canadians running around this thread - this dude here is one large Torontonian

Ben is a bad ass! And such a nice guy to talk to.

1. i didnt realize bpak was canadian.

2. i've asked a few questions on the bpak facebook page, unlike a lot of the pro's even though im sure it wasnt him responding, i did get responses from his team which is pretty friggin bad ass if you ask me.

He is a big lad for sure... I didn't realize he was from Toronto till I saw Generation Iron (when he said it).

Wheels look good Snags... have a great time with your son!

yes I know bro....lqtm
I was trying to convey how damn large that thing was ;)
looking good

I kinda figured that was your intent. ;) And Thanks. Means a lot coming from you. I have had a couple people on another forum think it was a leg, so I thought I'd clear it up for anyone else trying to squint at the tiny pic. Lol.

Out of bed this morning

Arms in the rear double are wrong. Gotta bring my forearms in more. Losing the peaks.

was wondering when you were gonna post that one LOL
as I already said - MUCH improved, keep those few points I gave in mind

you are coming into your beast mode now brutha!
you are all over it, like candles on a cake ;)

Yeah but his cake wouldn't have nearly as many candles on it as yours would...so maybe a different simile is in order?

No, I'd say that one was perfect. Though technically that's a metaphor. :-)

I'll go ahead and say this.....my legs from the front are surprising me. Didn't think they were even near this decent. From the back they lack thickness though.

aye, this is true

Fuk dubs. I want some Patrick Ewing's! 33's for those not as gangsta as myself.

Looking good Monty. I've noticed in a few of your pics that your right shoulder still tends to drop when you are in some of your front poses. Try and keep an eye on that and keep your boulders of shoulders level. :)

Got cha! I'm slump shouldered so I try to focus on that as much as possible. In my rear lat spread I tend to roll them forward a bit too avoid the inward dip where my lat and delt tie in.
