microscopic hair in gear

i see 1 incredibly tiny hair inside my vial of test cyp. it actually doesn't look like human or animal hair, it looks like a small piece of thread from the alcohol swab. insanely small... you'd need to have very good vision just to find it in there. the vial hasnt been contaminated... do i need to go in there with a syringe and try to suck it out? or inspect my injections very carefully after i draw? any suggestions?
 
depending on where you got it I would pitch it myself. who knows whats in there? but at the least refilter as said above with a .2 filter, not a .45
 
Lol I bet its chuck norrises pubic hair from when he filled it with his own urine or as we know it to be test cypionate hahah:bruce1:

where do i get this filter/ how do i do that? im assuming a need another vial to do this...would i find these things at a med supplies store? i know the solution isnt contaminated otherwise it would have changed colour (according to my source, who is reputable). apparently i may have pushed a microscopic piece of the swab inside the vial with the needle. sounded somewhat possible to me...

its mainly just so i can avoid having to inspect the contents of my syringe after i've drawn... or trying to suck it out with an 18 gauge. this damn piece of lint/hair is borderline microscopic.

pain in the ass.

your source is full of **** bro, you most likely WOULD NOT see a change in contaminated gear. and what your discribing is possible but unlikely with a rubber stopper.

The very least I would do is refilter it.
 
I work in the medical device industry, where we make things like syringes.

You wouldn't believe what measures the BIG pharmacuetical guys go through to avoid this crap. But, even they have it happen occassionally anyway.

Hair, fibers (carboard, cotton) etc. consume an inordinate amount of time and resources where I work. The UG lab situation for gear in the US only aggrevates this problem.

Ironically enough most of the research data shows that this stuff is mostly harmless in healthy humans. Believe it or not there are standards on how much rubber residue, hair, skin particles, and fiber a person can inject safely.

in that case it has to be the most anabolic substance known. Consider yourself lucky that someone sold it to you mistaking it as regular test cyp when in fact you have something of insane value!!!

wow, thanks for the info. for some reason you don't sound like you're bs'ing me... i'm still going to refilter it but you at least helped me not freak out as much.

just out of curiosity.. do you have any idea what the details were as far as the standards go? like would something 1/100th the size of an eyelash per 50 ml of test fall within the "safe" zone?

Oh shoot, I don't make those determinations we pay a consultant to do that work for us, we would throw out anything we suspected of being contaminated. But, statistically speaking through audits, these guys know that a certain percentage of product will have something in them. I'm just pointing out it isn't as scary as it seems.

It is what you don't see that is scary.

But, I would most definitely use a whatman on that stuff.

whatever it is, it doesn't seem to have contaminated the solution. i'm just having trouble figuring out whether or not i need to just avoid the thing or refilter the whole solution. the piece of filter/lint/whatever it is easily avoidable. how much do whatman filters cost/the equipment needed? i had already injected 750 ml of the stuff too before i noticed the particle... :S

well... apparently foreign materials somehow get inside vials being distributed by major pharmaceutical companies.. i don't see how millipore is able to prevent it from happening and they aren't...

"Tested for 100% membrane and housing integrity" Straight from the website. This is a fisher filter that is guarenteed. I suggest the .22 pvdf

that definitely doesn't prove that it never happens. moreover, i'm assuming they wouldn't mention that a small % of foreign particles pass through their filters... it is a commercial website after all. that would be like pepsi mentioning in their adds that a small percentage of their cans are pissed on by rats in the factories. it doesn';t serve their interests to be COMPLETELY honest, especially given what fatsuperman said; that it is pretty much harmless to inject a very small amount of the materials that can pass through.

edit: lol... i can't afford to buy 50 or 100 of these damn things either! i only need one!

Was trying to help you out. I'm in the lab everyday working with this stuff. All of medical research is based on the fact that 1)they are sterile 2) they don't let foreign particles through the filter. If foreign particals were getting through I'd be out of a job. By the way Whatman makes Fisherbrand syringe filters if you want the COMPLETE truth.

Call cutomer service and get a free sample. Better to be safe.

the solution is still sterile... especially if the particle is from a sterile filter and made its way into the vial in a sterile environment. i'm basically just repeating what someone else who works in the industry said.. so I'M not really trying to tell you you're wrong...

you did actually mention in your first post that it wasn't "likely" that they would pass through... that doesn't sound much like a guarantee to me...

All i said was refilter it. Thats realistic where I'm from. Actually its standard procedure.

of course its already been filtered.. you were talking about refiltering... :think: and yes i have... i don't think we filtered drugs through a whatman though so i'm not sure what your point is.
