Merry Christmas devils

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS,
HE LIVED ALL ALONE,
IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF
PLASTER AND STONE.

I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY
WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE,
AND TO SEE JUST WHO
IN THIS HOME DID LIVE.

I LOOKED ALL ABOUT,
A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,
NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS,
NOT EVEN A TREE.

NO STOCKING BY MANTLE,
JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND,
ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES
OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.

WITH MEDALS AND BADGES,
AWARDS OF ALL KINDS,
A SOBER THOUGHT
CAME THROUGH MY MIND.

FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT,
IT WAS DARK AND DREARY,
I FOUND THE HOME OF A MARINE,
ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY.

THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING,
SILENT, ALONE,
CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR
IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME.

THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE,
THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER,
NOT HOW I PICTURED
A UNITED STATES SOLDIER.

WAS THIS THE HERO
OF WHOM I'D JUST READ?
CURLED UP ON A PONCHO,
THE FLOOR FOR A BED?

I REALIZED THE FAMILIES
THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT,
OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE MARINES
WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.

SOON ROUND THE WORLD,
THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY,
AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE
A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.

THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM
EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR,
BECAUSE OF THE MARINES,
LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.

I COULDN'T HELP WONDER
HOW MANY LAY ALONE,
ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE
IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME.

THE VERY THOUGHT
BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE,
I DROPPED TO MY KNEES
AND STARTED TO CRY.

THE MARINE AWAKENED
AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE,
"SANTA DON'T CRY,
THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE;

I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM,
I DON'T ASK FOR MORE,
MY LIFE IS MY GOD,
MY COUNTRY, MY CORPS."

THE MARINE ROLLED OVER
AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP,
I COULDN'T CONTROL IT,
I CONTINUED TO WEEP.

I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS,
SO SILENT AND STILL
AND WE BOTH SHIVERED
FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL.

I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE
ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT,
THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR
SO WILLING TO FIGHT.

THEN THE MARINE ROLLED OVER,
WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE,
WHISPERED, "CARRY ON SANTA,
IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE."

ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH,
AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT.
"MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND,
AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT."

This poem was written by a Marine stationed in Okinawa Japan.
The following is his request. I think it is reasonable.....

PLEASE. Would you do me the kind favor of relaying this to as many
! people as you can? Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due
to our U.S.service men and women for our being able to celebrate these
festivities. Let's try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we
owe. Make people stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who
sacrificed themselves for us. Please, do your small part to plant this
small seed.

UUHHHH! Im not gay, I swear!!!! Just very observant!!!!

That's good to know.....:run: (not that race, creed, religous or sexual preference makes a difference......)
We didn't even have camo's when I got in the Corp. Our fatigues were solid green back then. I get to wear camos on the PD when we go out on special deployments.:duel: (I also wear em in the woods during deer season):woohoo:

Just wondering if you ever went main side to the "health shop" or so called fat ass who has no idea except that he can rip you off supplement store. Super huge dude who claimed he never juiced. Oh'well, guess not.

Without a doubt....they have three gyms on base now....but the barn is still the shiznit.....although i sold out recently and have a membership for those weekend days when i dont want to go on base

yeah, they had just opened the new one when i got out, over by the swim tank. then, there's the main one by the barracks, but that one blows donkey nuts. the barn is most definately the shiz. i miss those 150lbs dumbbells.

I hear you on that....the one by the pool sucks too...way too small.....the barn is the most hardcore on base...if there are any "hardcore" gyms on base.....what shop were you in?

lmao.....ummm...welll......no comment...I'm an airframer by trade.....so you were a POM...person other than maintenance..lol....good **** man....but I'm defienetly counting the days to my EAS

yeah, S-shops are despised by the maint shops, and vice versa. it's a give and take relationship. we give you a pencil, you take your ass out of our office, lol. i hear ya on the EAS deal bro. i started counting at the 425 day mark. everyday, i marked off another day with a big fat X.

i figured it'd be better in miramar as a logistics guy versus my former as an artilleryman in pendleton, i was wrong. both of them suck in different ways. 8 years was enough of that ****.

Pretty much!lol Dude, I was an airwinger (MALS-31)- all my buddies were grunts so I caught tons of ****.

awesome brudda. i think we dealt with mals 31 a little while during our station in kuwait/iraq. we were under mals 11 at the time.

I 've got like 730 days left....wow...thats sux...5 years will be more than enough for me....we deal with mals-16 but I was dealing with Mals-11 in Iraq this past time...pretty good guys.

BTW.....OOHRAH.....i know i know....airwing...but you got ....at least a little motivation...I just gave you all I had in my reserve

730, jeeez, lol. that's a little early to be counting. i was told a good rule by a corporal when i first arrived in pendleton, he said "when it stops being fun, get the **** out." so i did.

and another good one by a buddy of mine the day he got out, "it was the best time i ever had, but i'd never do it again."

yeah I know....sometimes movies boost the reserve, sometime stories...but never ever everyday marine corps life

It seems like civilians are the only thing that can boost the reserve....sad as it sounds.....but most days at work make me hate being a Marine

Kinda of like bootcamp I guess...really really sucked when you were there...but almost fun when it was all over....kinda like life I guess.....what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger....corny yes...but the most true statement I've ever heard.

I hated all the PT we did at PI. And then it got worse. Now, 30 years later, I make myself get up at 4am and go to the gym and do all the things I hated back then........

PI..........bahhumbug. sandfleas, sweltering heat, full gear road marches, drill practice, and of course the sand pit, ****.

Hey Mr. Beelz,
You didnt happen to catch the joke I put up did you! I havent gotten a death threat from you yet, so I am assuming not!
