Men bodybuilders looked at as gay. Women bikini pros looked at as sexy. Thoughts?

So I follow bodybuilding on facebook and I must say that the sexual preference of the followers of each one is different. The men have a strong gay community following while women have the exact opposite. Not too many comments from other women for example saying "Oh wow! How sexy. MMM Delicious." compared to the men who seem to have about 100 gay men from India commenting on their photos saying "Oh very hot."

The women get comments from MEN while the MEN get comments from other men.

Thoughts on this? I think its sad that this is how the media makes bodybuilding out to be. Why not market mens bodybuilding more to women? We all know that a guy looks better with a well developed physique. So why the lack of women fans in bodybuilding?

MOST women prefer the physique comp type builds, vs the mass monsters type bodybuilder.

But honestly any gay connotation towards bodybuilding has nothing to do with the media, I don't think. I've never seen the media try to portray bodybuilding as being gay.

Generally speaking, guys are just more aggressive and forward in general where it comes to following, commenting on pics, etc. Beit straight men on women's pics/profiles, or gay men on men's pics/profiles, or even lesbian women commenting on women's pics/profiles, which I also see a lot of. Straight women also tend to be more openly supportive of each other, I see this a lot on instagram.

Women are typically not as forward with men, as men are towards women, or men towards men. I think this is the simple answer.

Last I checked, Facebook isn't a media outlet doing anything or labeling bodybuilding pages as anything.

They don't have to label any of it. All you gotta do is look at pro's bodybuilding pages and see the enormous amount of homosexual males hitting on them. "Oh so hot" is one I read a lot of.

Go look at a womans page. The only people commenting are males who like *****. May get a woman here and there saying "Oh you look great!" But there is nothing that hints homosexuality with their comments at all.

You asked for our opinions on how the sad media is labeling male bodybuilding as gay. Make up your mind bro... is the media sadly labeling it or not?

Bodybuilding will always be labeled as this and that. Truth is, I am a big believer of equality and if a gay man/woman wants to follow a bodybuilder and comment then thats on them, at the end of the day we all get into this sport to display our bodies. Does it make us gay when we watch Olympia and comment on how well Dexter's back looks or Phils abs? Technically we are "Checking" out guys. Problem with society is that they love to label anything and everything.

Bodybuilders being homo has been a comedic relief item since the mid-1970s. Just one stereotype of many- meathead = stupid, shunken balls = impotent, Narcissistic = self explanatory, There are a bunch of others.

Maybe it is the speedos...and shaving body hair.....

As for women bikini stuff-- at least back to the 1980s with Rachel Mclish and a bunch of others. Just stereotypes. Which do exist for a reason, a mixture of truth, history and ignorance.

As for Facebook. I do not Facebook. I think it is for folks who have too much time on their hands and considerably less in credibility than an established forum.

Well - its not just a stereotype - there was a very big gay for pay culture amongst bodybuilders - and probably still is - the large amounts of drugs used in bodybuilding are obviously quite expensive, gay porn pays well, and men are more likely to pay for sex - so there you have it. Aside from that - there are also gender stereotypes - that aesthetics and beauty are feminine traits and desires - so males that focus on their image and pursuits of being aesthetic is not "manly". Females are just more accepted as sexually desirable as well - and it is more accepted by us as males - if a girl calls another girl hot - guys enjoy it - if a male calls another male hot - its generally "gay" and said male is a "beta". So both genders advocate females being sexy - where as the stereotype of males being attractive only comes from females or gay males.

So what you're saying is that it is mostly men commenting on both men and women's pictures. Hmmmm, I think I see the pattern

As a gay man, (I said gay, not queer) you will never hear me ogling over another bodybuilder, but may ask for pointers. I believe, regardless of orientation, men will be men, that is visually and hormonally based without candidness about what they think of the same or opposite sex. I eschew this type of personality and my spouse and I, at the social level, have much more hetero couples as friends. We have little gay (men) friends. It's not because we are homophobic of queers or lustfully depraved genres or individuals, but we basically have nothing in common with the cultural gays that assimilate and homogenize.
Well said. So basically the men that are posting overly sexual outgoing comments on these bodybuilders pages are perverted queers and not decent classy gay men like yourself. I respect you for that and I hope you are having a very nice day today.

Omfg............ Wtf?!?

This is the most stupidest, effn stupidest thing ever! I can't even wrap my head around the stupid words that came out of your mouth.

Kudos to you and your weight loss but your inside does not match your outside. The words that come out of your mouth shows your insecurities. Instead of empowering and inspiring others, you choose to belittle them in order to feel good about yourself.

Stop worrying about the irrelevant bs and stop judging people because their journey is not the same as yours.

But like always, I'm sure you'll have an ignorant rebuttal...

That's what you took away from his post? Let me ask you some questions: Why do you care? Why should anyone care? If I was a comp. BB and my facebook page was blowing up with graphic comments from men I can do a couple things. Look at it positively because fans are fans and it is good for my career. If it really bothers me I can take my page down.

I have experienced the mystery you are trying to unravel personally. I am the only large muscular one in my group of friends. A few of my friends are most definitely better looking based on level of female attention but I take the prize when it comes to getting hit on by other men. I am not interested but am flattered none the less.

I could go on and on but I still don't understand why you give a ****?
