I think the barrier is more than just mental... The cns almost acts like a governor on an engine and will cap out what you can pull before your truly hitting your potential. That's why you read about super human feats of strength when adrenaline overrides the parasympathetic nervous system.
I think part of the reason why all our lifts go up when we start squatting and pulling with heavy weight is that the CNS is getting more use to that level of exertion...
Brandinooooo and I are going to open a gym that has a new style of training to engage the parasympathetic nervous system... it basically involves us slapping the sh1t out of our clients before huge lifts, scaring them, and smoking rock cocaine...
