Wanna see a pretty good movie, check out "Super Size Me". It's a documentary based on this guy eating Mcdonalds for breakfast, lunch and dinner for 30 days straight. I'll never eat there again.

This is sad. I did see the movie and it was really informative. The thing you have to keep in mind is that McDonalds, BK, Wendy's, and any other fast food chain is not meant to be the staple of any diet. It's supposed to be a treat like ice cream or a candy bar. McDonalds actually has a few things that aren't half bad but most opt for the fried and not grilled. For example I went to McDonalds 2 days ago and had the grilled chicked sandwhich no mayo with skim milk to drink. Not bad at all compared to a lot of other foods.

Besides, I don't like the way I feel after eating fast food. I ate Jack in the crack yesterday because I was all over the place running errands and got hungry. Felt like **** for a couple hours after. If you want the so called healthier choices you have to pay out the ass.

god it infuriates me when people have no self-responsibility .. the tobacco law suits pissed me off, BUT at least there was evidence of a conspiracy to not let out info about nicotine being physically addictive
mcdonalds never claimed their food was good for you, i'm not defending big corporations here because they do FAR more than their fair share of harm, but jesus people need to realize they are the ones paying to shove big macs down their throats TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY

Fast food also makes me feel like complete ****, so I eat it very rarely these days. That's hard too because all my friends at work want to go eat that **** at lunch.

As for the healthier stuff being hard to find and costing a lot though, it doesn't really. Just have to look. for example there's a great texmex place not too far from me. They grill all their meat right in front of you. The only bad/unhealthy things there are the guacamole, if eaten in excess, the tortillas, and the obviously bad burritos, nachos, etc. But still, grilled chicken or steak on a tortilla ain't that bad. Throw in some steamed peppers and onions and you're still good. Or go to a deli and get a chicken or turkey on whole wheat with lettuce and tomato. The healthy food is out there, you've just got to find it, and in the end the cost is the same as fast food. Less if consider all the money you'll be saving when they don't have to clean out your arteries and replace your organs when you're older.

That said, because of some recent major stress and partying, I've started smoking again. )c: Six years off these fuckers and now I'm back smoking like a chimney. Guess I'll have to quit again. It's honestly harder psycologically than physically. Never had withdrawal problems with any drug I've ever used, but with cigarettes even minus the physical withdrawal it still sucks when you want to chill out, drink and smoke a bit with friends, andyou have to control yourself. Gimme a week or two and I'll quit. Right now, I'm too fucking tired dealing with all the other **** in my life.

Welcome to a socialist society where people can't take responsibility for their own actions.

I hate fast food. However, it should be common sense that grease laden Big Macs, oversalted fries that can survive a nuclear attack, and a half gallon of soda would be bad. It should be common sense but it is not.

I thought Fast Food Nation was a better eye opener than Super Size Me. I thought it leaned towards Liberalism a little but it was very informative. The part that I hated the most was how about 3/4 of the hamburgers out there tested positive for traces of **** in them. Sickening.

without getting to a big thing here, socialism is a means of running an economy, it doesn't mean that people can't have personal responsibility or civil rights have to be curtailed ...

Socialism is all about the government playing a huge role in people's lives. Socialism is meant to take care of people. Thats what I got from reading Marx's Communist Manifesto. So Socialism does play a major role in responsibility since with socialism, the government solves all problems of people.

scandanavian countries are socialistic, they still have plenty of civil liberties, in more cases, more than we in the USA do .. their government can't spy on them ... they just tax them a ton

Socialism is defined as collective ownership of all property, including persons. It's got nothing to do with taking care of people. It's merely a politcal system where legitimacy is confered on the idea that you don't own yourself or the product of your own actions, the government does. It can be violent or generally benevolent such as in many Scandanavian countries. Generally speaking there is no government currently in existence that isn't socialist.
