Marijuana's effects on cardio/conditioning

Would occasional use of marijuana(2-4 times a month) negatively affect cardio/conditioning? If so, how much of an impact would it make? I read a lot of athletes and even people on this forum smoke marijuana and train. This is a very contradictive issue that I can't seem to find an answer to.
Thanks for the help in advance!

I've read much research of the benefits of THC. Not particularly in relation to traing but in other areas of health. Smoking anything is harmful and will impact cardio training. There are edibles that give you the same if not better effect. Just my two cents.

I would say even smoking cigs 2-4 times a month is going to have a minimal impact on performance (this is coming from personal past experience) . I wouldn't stress it.

I don't think 2-4 times a month would have too much of an impact on anything performance wise.

Well, smoking anything will not possibly have a positive effect on cardio, so-to answer your question: yes, it will have a negative effect.
At the same time, occasional anything will not greatly affect your training, don't stress about it, but don't look for permission from the interwebs either

2-4 times a month won't make a huge difference. You'll obviously not be at 100% of what you could be, but it likely won't make a significant impact. Is it really only 2-4 times a month? My experience is that if you smoke, you tend to do it often.

I'm a competitive boxer but at the same time I still am only 19. It's kind of a "off season" for me, Im not gonna be fighting for a bit but still am gonna be training and sparring. I'm off school and want to have some fun though, I have smoked a few times in the past and found it helps me with recovery (sleep and eating) also. It also helps me with my anxiety. So occasional smoking won't hurt my training significantly, correct?

The absolute most I would smoke or have smoked in a month is 6-8 times but generally I'm in the 2-4 range. How much damage is this doing to my boxing training?

Boxing is a pretty hardcore cardio sport and I don't have a number for you, like smoking is going to put you at 80% or 60%. Some people seem to do just fine with smoking and training as fighters (look at the Diaz brothers in mma), but I don't think that is the norm. However, I think you already know that you're going to have to make a decision sooner or later. It all depends on how far you want to see if you can go. Might as well give it your best shot.

One thing you may want to keep in mind is that marijuana is a bronchodilator unlike cigarettes which are broncho constrictors. While it's true that smoking anything is not exactly good for your lungs, weed is gonna be much less damaging than cigs. Don't quote me on it, but if I remember correctly I read a study once that said pot smokers can actually have an improved lung volume capacity.

Association Between Marijuana Exposure and Pulmonary Function Over 20 Years.” Journal of the American Medical Association, 307 (2): 173–81.

That being said, there is a nearly infinite number of reasons why pot shouldn't be considered a training aid (carcinogens, neurological down regulation-esp of the cannaboid receptors, effects on willpower, etc)

You could always vape it. Much cleaner and no extra cals from edibles. I used to be into it. Now its fewand far between, but weed is a definite drug choice for bodybuilders, especially when drinking is ruled out. I think its far less harmless. As far as cardio and conditioning it will negatively affect it..but by how much?

I always remember hearing someone telling me how they met ufc fighter rashad evans and he was chillin in nyc smoking cigarettes. Another story i heard was about the calisthentics guy hannibal the king and he was working out in the park with a liter of hennesy. My point is if your a beast your a beast lol.
