Magic Bullet Blender

I know I'm not going to buy it... but I can't stop thinking about the Vitamix. Originally, I thought it was $1,000, but that must have been the commercial model someone I know was talking about. $500 isn't that bad, and a 7-year warranty is killer, even if it breaks down horribly after 7 years and 1 day, that's still only about $80 a year to have your own industrial strength blender at home to make your own smoothies from WHOLE veggies and fruits (not just the juice).

Ha, wow... I'm not even a customer, and I sound like a salesman. Who knows, maybe someday soon I'll break and buy one. But $500 can buy a lot of gea.... um... supplements.

They have factory refurbished items with the same full 7 year warranty. So, for $380 I can have some Vitamix'in kitchen awesomeness.

I emailed the company a couple questions, so once I hear back from them and my check comes in the mail, IT'S ON AND JUICIN!

Well, I don't think it compares at all to the Magic Bullet - but, the cool thing is it has a 30 day no-risk guarantee, and if I end up hating it, they even pay to have it shipped back.
 
Sounds pretty cool, I was looking at Amazon and it got pretty much all 5 star reviews. It's expensive, but people seem to love it.
 
I think I'd rather put a downpayment on a new car than pay for a Vitamix. I think common sense is becoming a rare commodity nowadays..
 
Outstanding, I just purchased mine from vitamix. They are selling the new version of the blender, the 5200, with the new BPA 64oz container with EZ grip handle. It is refurbished unit and comes with a 7yr warranty for $400 total...(i got free shipping)

Here is the kicker. They will allow you to pay 1/2 upfront, then split the remainder into 2 payments. So, basically, i paid $200 upfront and it is getting shipped tomorrow. I think its a heck of a deal and a great investment. I have been eye-balling this for a while now and finally pulled the trigger. Definitely going to make a ton of green smoothies to make sure my body is in a alkaline state. Because of all the meats we eat, bodybuilders are typically in an acidic state, which isnt good for an anabolic state. Alkaline = more anabolic.

Its gonna be easy, to throw in lots of alkaline veggies/fruits and drink it. Kale, spinach, grapes, strawberries, rasberries, blueberries, etc..etc...Basically you have your own smoothie bar in your house, but can control what the ingredients are.

I put nearly ten thousand dollars down on my last vehicle purchase, not a couple hundred dollars, what kind of cars are you driving? I don't appreciate you adding your one cent and insulting those of us who see the endless value in investing in our health, especially when the machine in question comes with a no-small-print warranty for nearly a decade.

Either this week, or next, on what I lovingly refer to as pay-day, I'm going to be getting some Vitamix mixing going on.

Although...... in only three or four weeks MAX I will be starting my 2011 Contest Prep, and I don't think there are many (any?) low-carb recipes for the Vitamix?
 
Has anybody had bad luck with crunchy PB in their magic bullet besides me? It doesn't do so hot on the peanut pieces in it, smooth tends to work much better if blended. But unfortunately the only downside is I keep much more crunchy PB around cuz I prefer crunchy at all other times.

MY contest prep for 2011 starts after next month, and I don't see why I would fork out hundreds of dollars right now for only a short span of time to be able to use it, then have it sit on the shelf for months on end as I starve myself, haha!

I used chunky in mine and it seems to blend just fine. Blade choice is key i think.

I would think if you relied on more on vegetables and low calorie berries rather than higher carb stuff like bananas,u pineapples, apples and juice you would be able to use it during your contest prep? Depending on how low you go on your carbs i guess... But you could make your own V8 without all the added sodium!
 
Anyone like to share any good recipes for the magic bullet?
One of my favorites is frozen cherries blended with chocolate protein and a bit of almond milk.

I really like V8... and sodium for that matter ;)

There is probably a 'way' to get everything right with greens and leafy veggies for contest prep, but I'd rather just buy one when I can use it freely, and I hate doing all the worrying and calculations anyway. I know how to measure oatmeal and rice, and chicken and eggs. Haha!

This fall I'll buy it though... I just saw them for the first time in person this week at Bed Bath & Beyond.
 
Man does anybody else have a problem with the lid coming loose sometimes??It did it to me two times now and it's a whole hot mess!!!You can't clean it cause it runs down the inside of it.I know wipe with damp cloth THAT WORKS WELL!

The one advantage I see, and I don't know if it's worth it, is that the blender become a cup as soon as it's done - so less cleanup. But yes, it is a blender, haha. I love the bigger blender though, a real kitchen blender with the large 64oz topper, to throw bananas, protein, peanut butter, protein, milk, blueberries in... you really can't come close to doing that with the Magic Bullet unless you buy the huge one, which IS a blender, just an upside down one, haha!

Of course, you could spend $400-$500 and get a Vitamix and shred through basically anything, even most whole fruits.
 
Ok, got my vitamix in. Opened the box. Yea, its a brand new VITAMIX, although it is refurbished. Trust me, its brand new, never used. AMAZING! This is an absolute beast. Umm, magic bullet move over. Yes, it costs 400 bucks, but it one heck of a piece of equipment. Made the following (remember, im trying to eat lots of alkaline foods / low sugar fruits)

smoothie #1
3 Cups baby spinach
1 Cup almond milk
5 whole strawberries (green tops and all)
1/2 braeburn apple
handful of ice

Blended for 40 seconds and it is soooo smooth. Its like drinking strawberry milk. Not one single bit of a leaf, seed, stem, ...nothing. Unbelievable.

smoothie #2
3 cups baby spinach
1 pear
1/2 apple
1 cup water

Blended for 40s and again, very very smooth. Tasted like pear fruit juice. Easily drank it in 3 minutes. Again, you have to imagine having all that on your plate and trying to stuff down 3 big cups of spinach without putting salad dressing on it, and then a pear and 1/2 apple. Well, its easy and without the salad dressing. Happy camper to say the least.

Smoothie #3 (needed more protein after eating 1.5 lean turkey)

2 scoops strawberry whey
1 strawberry
1 cup almond milk
2 cups baby spinach
10g taurine
5g beta alanine
1 scoop of super greens powder.
11 vitamins (1 animal pak) :)

Boys, it doesnt get any healthier than this. Blended up very smooth and cant even taste vitamins or anything.
 
It blended up the animal pack to nothing?
 
yes, absolutely nothing. Never knew it was in the smoothie. Its just hard to comprehend how powerful these are. Again, its the same type of blender that restaurants, smoothie king, starbucks use to make their smoothies/frozen drinks , etc

AWESOME!!! So glad to hear someone went for the purchase and was happy with it. I will own one eventually, I know it for a fact. I like how it is versatile too... I love how you can mix in a lot of greens and a small amount of fruit, and the fruit taste masks the veggies! :)

Well it has a 2hp motor, it better grind up chicken bones let alone fruit.

* Bought all this from my local farmers market this morning. I bought a ton of kale, buttercrunch lettuce, swiss chard, strawberries, pears.

yea, living here in florida, the farmers markets pretty much stay open year around. Pretty awesome. This is the first time I had been to this one (1/4mile from my condo), and i wasnt prepared. They had tons and tons of awesome organic greens, fruits, honey, fresh seafood, grass-fed local beef/pork, etc. Going back next saturday and gonna clean house. :bigok:

Awesome! I am, admittedly, jealous! I HATE THE HEAT, but everything else is pretty much amazing about those climates. I love Farmer's Markets.

Just an update on the vitamix. The blender is amazing. I have eated so many greens over the last 2 weeks.....and you can very much tell by my restroom breaks :)

I have eaten the likes of baby spinach, kale, etc with the combination of low sugar fruits such as strawberries, pears, apples, blueberries, etc.

How many of you eat 4 bowls of kale/spinach with some blueberries/pears before bed? I have been.

Those are the "commercial" blenders from vitamix that are bought by starbucks, smoothie king, etc (i have seen them in their stores before). They are able to be bolted down to a counter, have a soundproof shield, more horsepower i believe, etc. The common man wouldnt need to purchase that. Trust me, if you had a green smoothie made by a vitamix vs one made by a magic bullet.....it would be like drinking silk compared to gravel. Its that simple.
