Hi all. New to the board. Went to dr to check thyroid levels and was a little low. I've gained some weight recentley, always tired, 0 libido and have been very irritable, so he also did a T check and came in just above 200 total T. I'm 33 275 pounds (should be 220) and overall healthy and only on the synthroid for my thyroid (complete romoval for benign nodule in 2005) and no other medications. Was prescribed 50 mg Clomid for a 7 day "challenge (take for 7 days and retest on 8th day). For the last few years I was on depakote and zoloft and the dr thinks the medicine suppressed my T levels and my balls need a swift kick with the Clomid. This is day 3 and I feel nothing.

Has anyone experience anything similar. I also want to investigate TRT. Does anyone have any advice for me given their own experiences?

Thanks!
Gary

This is a good dr since he is trying to look to see if you are primary or secondary. Its something Dr overbeck does. Once they know if you are going to restart then clomid with proper nutrient base will be applied next while adjusting the thyroid and adrenals if they are out of balance. More dr need to look into this method because it will help determine what type of method is appropriate for your case. You may not feel anything, but if your levels are climbing then that is the whole purpose of the clomid challege is to see if your balls are responding. If your levels go up to <500 then you do not need TRT, but rather work on retraining the brain to send the signal. If your eating patterns, sleep hygiene, daily stress are not in check then these are areas you need to focus on. I have gotten guys started back up that where in there 40's on clomid and are enjoying life once again. They started at 200 now are in the upper 400's but their symptoms have dramatically improved. This was the motive that keep them going. I told them it is not an over night process and give it 4-6 months. They are finding that they needed to make lifestyle changes , change the way they think and respond to stress for their therapy to be effective. If you want it bad enough it is possible other wise you are wasting the Dr and your time. Zoloft is for serotonin and with out proper dopamine levels one can not have proper T levels since it helps sends the LH signal for testosterone production. Your dr should also being a nutra eval test to look for imbalnace with in your system idenitfying if there is cell membrane fluidity issue, insulin, neurotransmitter, liver or gut imbalance. After running several nutraeval test I have been able to give a clincal reason to why there levels may be low. Once the nutrient imbalance where identified and rebalanced it gave the person a better chance to hold after the clomid trial was ran. Reason why majority people crash is because they have nothing to keep the body going as in terms of building blocks for the hormones.
