What is your go to for low cost, high protein meal or meals? Always looking for fresh ideas that don't break the bank or the scale.

Costco:
Bulk chicken thighs
Bulk chicken breast
Bulk canned tuna or chicken

Butcher shop bulk buys (even in gibralters market sometimes here)

Buy cheaper meats and fit them into diet (packs of ground beef/turkey)

That's all great until you don't have a kitchen. Lol

Grab a walmart crockpot and bulk cook away

Cook your protein sources and bring them with you, is that an option?

It was a bit of an inside joke with Driven. I'm looking for a new apartment at the moment as I just rent a room now. No real kitchen.

Tuna, cottage cheese, and salsa. Weird combo but goes good with some tortilla chips. Check out "protein chef" on youtube. Lots of great ideas and he even prices out some of the meals.

All hail chicken and pork with spices !

For a little extra flavor get an egg.

Roll the chicken cut into chunks in the raw egg. Then go ahead and grind up some oats or use them whole (surprised how crunchy they are) plus spices.

Bake for 10 to 20 mins. Baked breaded chicken of the gods. Thor would be proud!

Gotcha, I would probably feel awkward using someone else's kitchen!

She's actually ok with it. It's me that feels weird about it. Lol

The tuna I buy has the pull-tab lid. No need for a can opener.

I lived on canned tuna for a good 4 years in college, now I barely eat em. I eat salmon steaks instead since I can afford it now lol.

As for budget meals, I buy bulk lamb, chicken thighs, and fish that are in season. Fresh ones can go between 2-3$/lb.

Yeah. However...chicken is the BEST right now for pure cost/lb. 1.70 to 1.90 a lb where I live.

However...you can cook up lamb to be damn good with a hearty soup and fish and rice cakes or fish and potatos are one of the most yummy meals out there period. Salute my UK BROTHERS IN IRON

Can't beat chicken man, it's always the cheapest and probably pork. I'm all about the dark meat chicken though

I live in Arkansas. I am blessed with nature all around me. Me and the wife get cheap ass produce and meat at our local walmart because they buy local.

Some of my staple meals/snacks off the top of my head;

- Kangaroo mince, red kidney beans, chilli salsa - can add some microwave packet brown rice if I want the extra carbs.

- Turkey mince, diced peppers/onions, cheese on spinach leaves drizzled with no fat greek yoghurt - alternatively as a burger if I want the extra carbs.

- Moroccan chicken thigh, peppers, wholemeal couscous with a squeeze a lemon and crumble feta over the top (can replace feta with drizzle of no fat greek yoghurt, depending on budget for the week) - add sweet potato for an amazing whole meal and additional carbs.

- tuna or salmon steaks and sauteed garlic broccoli / edamame.

- diced beef/chicken/lamb (whatever is cheap that week), coconut milk/PB/chilli sauce homemade stir fry sauce over mixed veggies.

- cottage cheese, strawberries/banana, a drizzle of honey or cottage cheese with blueberries and grated 90% dark chocolate - usually a dessert.

- Gherkins wrapped in Turkey slices with a sprinkle of cayenne pepper.

- egg white omelette with chilli salsa / omelette with whatever veg + protein source you have leftover from through the week.

If you are in need of cooking space get one of those little camping grills and a 1 pound bottle of propane. You can cook right on the trunk of your car or on your tailgate! Those grills are like 25 bucks and 2 tanks for 5!!! I love mine!

I have my camping stove and gear but they're at my ex-wife's house. I'll have to grab them next time i'm in the area. It's going to be a summer of camping living. lol
