Low cholesterol

So I got low total cholesterol. It's 118. I think last time I checked it was 120ish. HDL was slightly low at 27 but Triglycerides were also low in the 30s and LDL was low I think in the 50s or 60s. Basically everything low. I'm assuming my HDL is better now because I'm not on high doses of dhts anymore. I know about my total cholesterol because the blood donation center I go to offers free cholesterol tracking but they only give you the total. As far as supplements I take D3 fish oil Cialis and lipid stabil. I wonder if the cholesterol supplements are making my cholesterol low or maybe I should just eat more butter lol. Thoughts?

I would consider HDL of 27 to be a bit more than slightly below. Were you taking anavar?

I really doubt the cholesterol supplements are keeping your cholesterol that low. Did you have a physical recently? Could we rule out any underlying issues like thyroid problems? I will say when I started eating a lot of eggs every day my HDL shot up.

I agree with you on 27 being more than slightly low.

Anavar, LGD, and Ostarine were my first thoughts when I saw the 27 number too.

Hopefully it is related to something that's been taken bc its easier to try to fix when one knows what's doing it than if its seemingly doing it for no reason.

All right so I have not had a physical in a couple of years. Last year I had my own blood work done but I'm pretty sure I just got a CBC and then liver and kidneys I also check my igf-1 and my testosterone and estrogen and I believe I also check my cholesterol. Basically everything was normal except my cholesterol which was kind of low everywhere. My total cholesterol was 120 I think I remember the HDL was 27 which was bad but the triglycerides were very low as well and the LDL was also very low I was also on a cycle too I think I was doing like 500 test and 400 Primo whereas now I'm doing like 200 test and 150 Primo every 5 days which is much less and no I'm not on any orals. I don't know what the HDL or LDL is or anything like that I only got the total number this time from the blood bank. I am going to assume the HDL is better since I'm on a lot less Primo. Now I'm unaware of any thyroid issues however I would imagine if there was some kind of problem with my thyroid I would notice weight gain or weight loss possibly an issue with my heart rate or just general well-being change? As far as I can tell I feel like I always do and I would be surprised if I had a thyroid issue. I do remember back in the day like 5 years ago when I used to get my cholesterol checked it would be more like 150. I used to eat way more red meat though so I don't know. Maybe I'll get my lipids checked again although I feel like that's a waste of time because if my lipids aren't doing too well I already know what to do. I think I'm going to eat more eggs probably use more olive oil and coconut oil and do more cardio and eat cleaner and avoid sugar. do you guys think I should get my thyroid checked?

I want to make sure I understand correctly - are you saying that it was 27 last year but you didn't get a breakdown of it this year? If so, I would go get my cholesterol checked and make sure to do it first thing in morning and fasting.

I wouldn't make assumptions when it comes to cholesterol, especially it being that low.

Cholesterol and the breakdown is one of those things that unless you know the current numbers, there's no way to accurately try to improve them - bc you could wind up doing more harm than good with assumptions.

I'm not trying to be discouraging or freak you out in any way, but if its related to your cycle, okay, at least you know what you're dealing with and where you are. But if it's not, then you could have a serious problem and be ignoring early warning signs of it.

Yeah true. The HDL was low when I was on alot of stuff. I think with what im doing now it should be improved I'll just check my levels and see what's up.

Hopefully it would be back up - but that's why I would definitely get it checked - because if it didn't come back up properly and has been that low for a year or more, then that's something that definitely needs to be known and addressed.

I hope everything goes well for you.

Yeah I appreciate it.

Ok I did a little digging. These are my results from April 2023 and I was on 500test and 400 Primo a week.

Total cholesterol: 116
Triglycerides: 45
HDL: 29
VLDL: 11
LDL: 76

All I know for now is that my total cholesterol is the same more or less. But who knows, maybe the LDL is in the 50s and the HDL is in the 40s at this point?

I've learned from personal experience that the total can be round about the same and the breakdown be very different.

I understand that you were on a cycle then and it may be tempting to blame that for the low HDL; and it may be correct to.

My concern is that you are still on the same things, just at lower dosages so you really don't know if your body's levels bounced back any or not.

I think anytime on a cycle, regardless of dose, its always a good idea to check bloodwork.

It's of course your personal choice. I was just trying to be helpful with my replies. I hope that everything turns out well for you when/if you do have more bloodwork done.

I would guess your lipids are probably the same since your total chesterol is the same... but that's just a guess and it could be completely different.

Your HDL was low. I don't think your LDL or triglycerides were dangerously low. I would say they were within a healthy range. But if your HDL is low, I'd want to keep my LDL and triglycerides low too.

Like I said, I don't know for sure what your lipids are, however I would assume your HDL is a large part of what is dragging down your cholesterol and probably messing around with your lipid profile.

Yeah man I'm gonna order a cholesterol test and also a test/estrogen test. That way I'll see what my lipids are plus my e2. If my HDL is still low and also I see the e2 low I think that would be the culprit. Nothing looks too bad tho in my opinion. I just gotta bump the HDL up a little bit and I think im good to go

All right I just ordered my blood work. I ordered total and free testosterone with estradiol and sensitive estradiol. Then I ordered a regular CBC with a lipids panel and liver and kidneys. Currently I'm doing 200 mg of test with 150 mg of Primo every 5 days. I think what I'm going to do now is bump the test to 220 and bring the Primo to 140 that way I give myself a little bit more aromatization to bring my estrogen up just a tad because something is telling me that maybe my estrogen could be a little bit higher. Other than that I'm going to do cardio everyday and I bought coconut oil last night so I'm going to be cooking with coconut oil and I'm going to eat very clean drink a full gallon of water a day and take it easy with my cheat meals. Also continuing my protocol of lipid stabil and fish oil D3 etc. it usually takes a few days for my blood work paperwork to come in the mail and then when I get it, I have to go get the blood work done and then it usually takes around a week for the results to come in sometimes it can take up to two weeks. So that gives me a little wiggle room to really clean up my diet not that it's been horrible but I've definitely not been disciplined at all lately and increase my cardio and be a good boy lol
