Linear leg press useful or waste of time compared to other exercises?

Squat racks all occupied this a.m. so did the linear leg press for the first occasion.

Did my best to retract my knees into my chest when weights slid into the down position. Felt good tension but not the extreme as when squating.

Not anymore a waste of time than a leg press would be.
 
I like using the linear press. Squat rack is almost always full so it is my go to in those cases. Unfortunately you have to load up a ton of weight on one to get a good workout. I think I am up to 16 plates or so and leave it with jello legs every time.
