Lifting 2x per day every once and a while - good or no good?

Hey guys,

Is there any downside to lifting 2x per day every once and a while (say once per week).

I lifted legs this morning at 10am, but I'm really thinking about hitting up a shoulder workout tonight (around 9PM).

Do you think thats excessive? OR is it fine?
 
Every once in a while it's just fine. It really depends on your natural ability to recover and calories/sleep.

Go for it.
 
I did this for a while when I was trying to cut a few more lbs. I would do my strength routine in the AM and the exact same routine in the PM. Except in the pm I would cut the weight in half and do 2-3x as many reps.
 
I do it quite often as I lift in the morning and 2x a week I have kickboxing and we'll run weights and kettlebells at night. Plus, there are weeks that I am just feeling good and I know I can get the rest in, so I'll go in the afternoon and focus on 1 compound lift.

Really, if you can find the time, rest, and fuel, then I say go for it.
 
As was said, as long as your body recovers go right ahead, I think all of us do this at least once in a while.

I will get in a double at least 2x a month. There was a time it was 2x a week
