Liftandswim's Log

Could always do a Paul Carter fatigue single. Do your work, pick a heavy weight that you'll crush and use how it goes to gauge. Kinda like your 90% single today, except after your work.

Both you and Lou giving solid ideas. I'll have to see how I feel on the day

Glad that is over. Lol. My conditioning/work capacity has significantly improved. This will come in handy down the road.

Benching really quick tomorrow then hitting the corresponding accessory work on Sunday. Work conflict.

Stay strong AM.

All your squats look crazy easy.

Wasn't able to bench today. Gym worker was 15 minutes late opening up and I have to be at work 45 minutes earlier than expected. Meh :(

Hitting it hard tomorrow.

Back at it tomorrow. One more hard week of training then a deload.

Stay strong AM.

That's awesome dude. Its a good feeling when you look back on long term progress and see how far you've come, aint it? Nice benching too.

Definitely. Looking back always puts things in perspective. Crazy how far we've all come. And how far we still have to go!

315x6 fronts. Good f'n work. Really nice day.

That's horrible. That's why congress gets involved with supplements; because of the extreme idiots.

Lol I just laughed and told him it was a awful idea.

I can't comprehend what goes through some of these people's minds. Other than they are lazy fcks that don't wanna put in any real effort. And I'm only talking about the ones that take them and dont actually train hard, as i have no problem with the people that take them but still work their asses off.

Yep. Same. I'm all for AAS if you train hard and are aware of the pros/cons. Everyone wants a shortcut though. This kid doesn't even have a gym membership...

Night lift. Just got home. Strength was down a bit on the day so I scaled the weights on the incline pause bench and weighted dips back a hair. No biggie. Got the volume in.

May or may not lift tomorrow night. See how I feel after work.

Morning weight down to 202.

Stay strong AM.

Sweet pressing man.

Lol, work with some light bulbs I see! Just tell him to take Creatine and his muscles will get bigger...
Why is it when skinny people or overweight people get around(us) they want to talk about lifting and give all kinds of reasons why they are skinny/fat? Have to say I've not had but a couple guys ask me about AAS. Had one tell me it was obvious I was on Steroids to look like I do at my age, I just laughed and said yeah, that's it, I don't even lift.

202? Venturing into danger zone?

You have no idea. Nearly every guy I meet nowadays feels the need to explain why they're out of shape. I don't even bring up training. It's always unsolicited.

"I don't have time to train like when I was younger. Want to go have some beers later"?

"I don't have time to train like when I was younger. Want to go have some beers later"?

haha, i feel as if a lot of people have never stayed consistent long enough with a routine to really deeply activate the reward system part of their brain and so they make the excuses because they don't understand how good it might feel and how easy it is to keep consistency once you're there.

also I feel like a beer or two with dinner after I've worked hard for the day and can finally relax is ultimately way better than going out.

Ya I've got nothing against people wanting to do that, but I do run into so many people "with no time" that actually have a lot of time when I have them go over their actual daily schedule...

Definitely. Agreed on both accounts

Mhm. Usually more time than us crazy bastardś have

All it takes to have a decent training session is an hour to hour and a half.. 3-4 of those a week, plenty. If I had kids or something with working like I do, it would be rough tho, can't lie.

Yeah Thanksgiving weekend doesn't count. No cal counting the next few days.

Hypertrophy Block #1

Week 9, Day 3

Deadlift
work up, work up
455x6 (RPE 9) PR
...estimated 1RM 545...I think that's accurate

Snatch Grip RDL
275x8
275x8

GM
225x8
225x8
...i suck at these.

Front Rack BSS
135x10 each leg
135x10 each leg

Leg Curl
2x10, 2x20

Leg Extension
5x15

LISS
15 minutes

Happy with the deadlifting PR. Fairly confident I can pull a 5-10lbs 1RM PR weighing ~15lbs lighter.

I suck at GMs. Potential room for growth there. Will be incorporating in my next block as an accessory lift in the 6-10 rep range.

BSSs are brutal. Do you guys rest in between legs? I don't and it sucks.

Squatting tomorrow. Going for a 10RM PR. Should be fun (not).

Happy thanksgiving to all. Eat up!

Stay strong AM.

Strong day, man. How wide of a stance do you take with the GMs?

And I do 30-45 between legs on BSS and it still sucks lol

Thanks! And I did my low bar squat stance width (and bar position). Idk if I liked it.

Gonna start resting between legs then. It'll still suck, but maybe a little less.

Nice job on the PR. Go eat, and eat a lot.

Give a wide stance a shot with the GMs maybe. That's the only way I'll do them. Not sumo wide by any means but just something different.
