Liftandswim's Log

Everybody wanna be a bodybuilder....

But don't nobody wanna lift these heavy ass weights...

8/5/3 or whatever just gives you more volume, not sure that I would use it for squats or deads. But for upper body, especially over head press I find it to be perfect.

I am telling you right now i personally would never use it for deads. Maybe front squats if i dedicated a day to those as a secondary squat day.

I don't like to FS above 3-5 reps. The weight will be too light for your legs, but too heavy for your upper back.

7/29

Week 12, Day 3, Part A

Squat
work up, work up
450x1
475x3 PR, RPE 10
430x1 RPE 10
...quads/knees throbbing, called it there (see below)

Crunch Machine
4x25

Extremely Light Leg Curl
2x20
superset
Extremely Light Unilateral Leg Press
2x20

...done.

My quads and knees were aching from the beginning. Felt it on 225, but like a knucklehead I refused to leave without doing my top set. I got the prescribed reps, but I had to fight. Tried to keep going, but after almost failing on 430x1 because of the pain I called it. It was to the point I barely could stand. Rode the bike for 10 minutes and hit some extremely light feel good work and left.

I know exactly why my quads/knees hurt because it's happened before. Read the next paragraph at your discretion. TMI alert.

I've gotten "busy" roughly 20 times in the past 5 days. After awhile, reaching the "finale" requires me to flex my quads hard for minutes on end. It's horrible for my quads/knees. So yeah, that's why. I'll rest up and be fine.

Upper tonight.

Stay strong AM.

If your knees are going to hurt, thats probably the best case scenario as to why that i can think of. No more busy getting on the 2 days leading up to squats man...stay focused

I was bummed that I had to stop. Felt like a failed workout :(

Cry me a river, I know. I'm going to sneak in the volume that I missed over the course of the next two weeks.

No wonder your squat is strong. You're doing leg extension pauses 4x a day.

What was your previous 3's Pr?

I still remain jealous of your squat.

So. I can pause squat well over 400lbs hamstring on calves any day of the week, but I struggle to bend over and put socks and shoes on. Wut.

Congratulations, you're doing it right! It was like Clint Darden said about bloating. "You can good morning 500 pounds, but good luck leaning over the sink for a few minutes to get those last few bites of syrupy bread in." Socks and shoes are hard in the morning. Impossible in jeans.

I was in jeans. That was the kicker.

He's probably trying to tell you skinny jeans aren't socially acceptable.. I mean.. he probably means it's too hot for jeans in the middle of July

No, the sad part is skinny jeans ARE socially acceptable. Luckily, they don't make skinny jeans for 2+xBW squatters.

If it were my choice I'd wear shorts and track pants year round.

Shorts are the way to go. It is impossible to find a pair of jeans.

Screw jeans lol. I buy new jeans like every year now it seems. Gotta go up a size or two for most to get the legs in.

I found a pair once! I only weighed 205 but the waist size was 36 and I wore 34 at the time. And they were stretchy. They were not purchased, just tried on for a gag. Most skinnies don't fit over my "sturdy" knees.

Now I just wear big ass jeans and suffer. Sawdust doesn't come out of sweatpants.

Been rocking the short cross country running shorts too. You guys are missing out! Come on, it's 2015. Freedom of movement for the Lil guys

Short shorts are the way to go! Nikes or rugby shorts for the gym, chubbies or bear bottoms for more dressy stuff. Spent too much time trying to find regular length shorts that fit my legs

Boom. Picked up 3 with the Father's Day sale. They're so awesome that my wife won't let me leave the house wearing them.

Ready for sqaut
