Liftandswim's Log

You'll gain it back. I remember when I was lifting around 205-208. My squat felt off for about a month but after that I got my bearings. You'll catch up to where you want to be before you know it.

Good to hear. Silent mike (mark bell's crony), said the same thing more or less in a recent video I watched. Just gotta stay the course!

Squats look good you've developed a great form, the changes in leverage are just screwing with you. It's there it is just gonna "feel" different but the strength is there.

Thanks, bolt. Really appreciate the compliment. I'm lucky in that squatting comes fairly natural to me. Doesn't mean I'm particularly strong, but the technique doesn't require much thought. For me, it's as easy as breath, brace, unlock hips, down, up, and repeat. The other lifts are a work in progress...

Oh dude you wanna talk about power belly, try being about two fiddy! Last year I dropped 20lbs in five weeks and squatting felt absolutely wrong.

Ha. Is it really a cheat curl if it's done for a specific purpose?

Idk. Just what I call it. I will say those were the two hardest sets of the entire workout. Forcing these arms to grow.

Measured my arms today. I've added .5 inches to my arms since last time I measured (about 2 months ago maybe). So, that's good news!

That's great progress. Mine surely don't grow like that anymore.

I'll trade u some arms for some of ur leg strength to squat like u! Lol I miss me some arms day. I know if I do em, my arms will b shot for the rest of the week since I have no recovery time at my job carrying shyt all day. And coming home to a 25lb 1 year old that wants to b Carried all the time

Lol no deal! Squat is my favorite lift :)

And sound like every day is an arm day for you. Based on your avi, their development is probably the least of your concerns.

Ate 3500 calories yesterday and woke up lighter (207.6). This is madness. Brb going to get some McGriddles. I'm also sore as hell.

Thoughts:

Session lasted nearly 2 hours. I'm exhausted.

First PR in about two weeks, so I'm pleased with that. Going to try to build some momentum.

Don't even want to think about the front squats I have planned for tomorrow yet. capo180 I got the number of a guy who occasionally trains at old school iron today at the gym. He's going to shoot me a text next time he's headed over there on a weekend. If I'm free. I plan on joining. If you're free, you should join too!

Stay strong AM.

Awsome pulls man they get ruff after 5 lol

Definitely. The hardest part is maintaining solid technique. One of the drawbacks of these AMRAP sets. I love AMRAPS for squat, bench, and press, but deadlifts not so much. After this training cycle I MAY tweak my deadlift programming. Idk yet.

Nice PR Lift&Swam. I agree also on the DL reps. Draining as heck?

Why not cut them at required reps and go for jokers or something?

Maybe work up then top set do singles with certain prescribed rest (based on the percentage of 1rm) and auto regulate the sets to stop once form/speed changes?

Idk you are getting strong as heck so don't get to crazy changing things up haha ;)

Another good idea.

And yeah yeah, I don't want to stray too too far from what I'm currently doing because it's working! Still getting stronger at a lighter BW. Can't wait to see where I'm at when I'm back at 220!

Happy with the FS PR, it was slow though. 405 by week 20, fingers crossed.

Rest was some BB'ing for the back, delts, and bis. Get big.

Stay strong AM.

Sick front squat!

Thanks, bolt.

You think it's an issue that my front squat is nearly 85% of my back squat?

No that is actually solid. I know it doesn't matter as much for powerlifting (because it only matters what you squat so whatever builds that best is most important), but that is the ideal ratio that olympic lifters use.

Nice, good to know. Can't really call myself a powerlifter (I haven't competed, and don't really have the itch to compete). For now, I'll steal cincy's phrase and call myself a strength enthusiast.

I like that. Strength enthusiast. As in, the ability to enjoy training lol

Mind if I ask why you don't want to compete yet?

I love training.

And I've competed for the last 15 years of my life. Sounds stupid, but I'm enjoying the break from it. Guess I couldn't really give you a reason why, I just am. I'm certain that I'll compete one day, don't you worry.

I hear ya. Just curious is all.
