Lexapro and Superdrol

Recently my psychiatrist prescribed me lexapro for depression. I understand that while taking this drug you really cannot drink alcohol. Therefore, I am unsure as to whether mixing this drug with something that affects the liver like superdrol would be safe. Any experience or knowledge on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

The reason you should not drink is most likely not cause of the liver issue but rather what the comination of the two together will do. Alcohol is a depressive drug, you drink=getting depressed. I am not a doc but I would not chance this unless you talk to your doc about it. He will most likely tell you not to take SD just because of what it is no matter if you are on a prescription or not. Just ask him the reasons why you should not as to just a yes or no answer.

yeah, drinking on antidepressants compounds the preexisting condition--you will feel worse than if you had not been taking the med at all. I doubt its liver, but there are some bright guys here. Hopefully Dr. D will chime in.

Alcohol blocks the enzyme (cytochrome P450) responsible for the metabolism of Lexapro and other anti-depressants like it. As far as SD, you shouldnt drink with it because its a methylated compound and hepatotoxic. Alcohol is also hepatotoxic (duh). So 1 liver harming compound is better than 2.
