lance armstrong?

Where did you hear he's on HRT? I always thought that AAS was banned in the Toure de France.....even if it's legitimate HRT...because it still gives an advantage.

He's physically gifted. His VO2Max is routinely tested above 85, and I believe he has the highest VO2 recorded. His resting heartrate is 30 and he produces very little lactic acid. The guy is a machine, simple as that. I believe all top roadies have doped, but he's never tested +. Regardless, he's in a class by himself.

I've also heard that Lance's heart is 30% larger than the average human heart. But like was said before, the man is a machine and has earned all the accolades he has received.

I also read that his resting heart rate is about 18 beats per minute. I think the avearge human is like 50+ per minute.

Average human is 60 beats. Abnormal rates are <60 beats[bradycardia]... Obviously Lance's is the result of conditioning. I belive his resting is around 30 beats ~

I don't think human phys could support sufficient O2 transport at rest on 18 beats, but I could very well be wrong. it would result in hypoxia, but the body would compensate by raising rate.

Watching the Discovery Channel Shows on Team Discovery, I had to wonder how much is Armstrong's superiority and how much is the NASA level team of Scientists that engineer everything to the Nth level for him? The second place guy on the latest tour was 99.9% as fast. Yes, I know, Lance's peak was back in 2003.

Guy's a stud regardless, and seems a very positive and decent guy.

Regardless of his resting heart rate, heart size, possilble use of epo, whatever; what's really impressive is his tolerance for pain. It's what truly seperates him from the rest.

It's probable that he is chemicaly assisted but so, probably, are the rest, so, all things equal he is still tops. It's not just "suppliments" that maketh man.

Average resting heart rate range is 60-80 beats per mintue, with 72 bpm being the mean.

Lance Armstrong's resting heart rate is 32 bpm. I would assume most professional cyclists or endurance athletes have a very low resting heart rate as well.

Cycling is full of chemical enhancement and two steps ahead of testing

To me, the sample is far too old and has probably been handled by far too many people for it to be used as evidence.

I am not an expert on LA, but I do know some of the basics. Testicular CA spread into lungs and into brain. <30% chance of survival. Survived chemotherapy, which is not necessarily a given, and learned to deal with pain and use it. I would not doubt that there might have been some early during his cancer treatments, standard treatment for people with severe anemia s'dary to chemo & also dialysis. Nevertheless, 7 wins in probably the most difficult endurance competition that has ever existed with even a closer eye on him because the French can't stand that an American continues to win. Besides, I still get choked up watching that press conferance commercial. I will be a LA fan even if he never races again, just for the hope he given to those in a seemingly hopeless situation.
