Hey what would you guys recommend as the best l-glutamine powder and what are the advantages to taking it? What times should you take it too?

I prefer taking glutamine after intense workout as it speeds up protein synthesis, i take about 5 grams immediately after training with my protein. I suppose you could take a few grams for breakfast too but i'm not sure if that is necessary. Its very helpful for putting on lean muscle, and i disagree with gamer... Glutamine supplemenation is absolutely necessary for recovery after intense training...

Like I said, my protein contains about 5grams of glutamine and glutamine precursors, as do most protein powders. If you drink 1-3 shakes a day you are fulfilling your glutamine intake and any more glutamine you take in wont have an "added" effect.. IMO.. Food sources of glutamine include cabbage, beets, beef, chicken, fish, beans, and dairy products. Now, combine your protein and food intake and you are getting more than enough glutamine per day, ergo no glutamine supplementation is necessary...

Alright cool, because one of my friends recommends it to me and he says even now that he's been taking it he hasn't been sick at all. Even during this winter. He said it can help boost your immune system?

How long has he been taking it? Because I just held my breath for 2 minutes and I wasn't sick during the whole time I was holding my breath. That doesn't mean holding your breath improves immune system. See what I'm saying?

Well i would consider a protein shake with glutamine in it supplementing with glutamine, but i get your point. Glutamine supplementation is still nice for people who don't have protein with glut in it or people who simply need extra... I've been told glutamine is especially beneficial if you are a hard gainer, or are massive because when you lift heavier and more intense, more muscle fibers torn = more glutamine needed to synthesis protein at a sufficient rate to recover.

2 minutes? That's impressive. I get your point though... Time period is essential to being able to tell the significance of not getting sick.

i use l-glutamine after work out.i read it more for older guys. people under 30 did not realy benefit from it.at least from a recovery stand point

Thanks! My record is 4 minutes on a dare. Blacked out and took a breath involuntarily. Bad headache after that...... probably won't try to break that PR.

Any glutamine peptide that you can afford. I posted something about that in my blog here as well. I am a firm believer in supplementing with it.
